While some patrons commend the breathtaking views and attentive staff, others report inconsistent food quality and service. Notably, complex dishes have left some feeling underwhelmed, particularly given the high prices for portion sizes. While a few visitors enjoyed memorable meals, including standout desserts, others were disappointed by the afternoon tea service. Overall, guests appreciate the warm ambiance and professionalism of the staff, making it a potential choice for special occasions—provided they can overlook the occasional lapse in culinary execution.
Fine dining isn’t t something my partner and I tend to go for so the food wasn’t as enjoyable as it could be. The staff were exceptional and the service was faultless and the view of the beach was beautiful (apart from the car park in front of the restaurant). In our own opinion, the food was too complex and was not enjoyable. The mains came out cold but the portion sizes were okay. The prices of the starters would not justifiable to the size of the portions. Also, paying £9 for a non alcoholic cocktail did not add to the mediocre evening. The staff and atmosphere is what made the experience so lovely and beautiful
We are Newquay residents and have been for over 40 years. My husband booked a table for 6pm today Valentine’s night for a surprise meal. We arrived 5 minutes before 6pm. Most restaurants would like this as they then know you have arrived. Not this hotel, the head waiter said that we were early and he was still briefing his staff, in what i would call an irritated tone. There was not hospitality shown, not escorted to the bar, left in the empty cold foyer and then ignored by 3 staff just walking by. Very disappointed would not recommend this hotel. Due to this lack of welcome we left without having a meal.
Excellent meal , delicious food , I had the beetroot main it was outstanding , great service , we can highly recommend
Came here with friends whilst we were all on holiday. It was our last night in Newquay and one of our friends suggested we ate here. There were 7 of us, 4 were vegetarian and there was plenty on the menu for everyone! I had fish and chips for my main and it was delicious, but my dessert was by far the best. I had lemon and basil posset, it was probably one of the best desserts I have ever had, so compliments to the chef. After our dinner we all sat outside and watched the sunset while our food went down. It was a wonderful evening. Would definitely come again.
Do not waste your money on afternoon tea here! Poor service and food quality. Tea was served in heavy teapot and cups, like a truck stop. Sandwiches were sparse and lacking in taste. No one asked if we needed anything or if everything was OK. No offer of any extra tea and had to request a second plate for the dessert, which included some rather tasty cheesecake and eclair but were accompanied by fruit that looked as if it was used from yesterday's menu. I asked to speak to the manager, he basically was disinterested in my comments and offered no explanation of poor/quality and service. We were avoided by all waiters and waitresses the remainder of the tea. £18 per person for this was outrageous. Suggest Silks at Atlantic Hotel for a superior experience.
