What User doesn't like about The Beach:
Very poor frozen bought in chips. Tasteless and bland. Not freshly made chips. As you would expect from your average British chip shop. Awful undercooked batter on the fish....a thick gloopy layer of gunky white raw batter mix. The fish fryer needs a retrain...he obviously doesn't know how to cook his products....or maybe he doesn't care. View all feedback.
On our last day we decided to pack our camping gear and walk down to st Ives for a nice fish and chips treat. Our usual restaurant had a big queue so we decided to give this place a go as it had such good reviews, big mistake. This restaurant has no queues for a reason. The fish was slimy and tasteless and the batter was soggy. The chips were not ‘proper’ fish and chip shop chips, they were frozen. The only good part was the peas. Total waste of £50 plus for 2 lots of fish, chips and peas, a child’s portion of goujons and 2 cokes. We will not return and can’t recommmend. Go to the restaurant at the opposite end of the beachfront strip!!
Very lovely meal we had tonight, the food tasted of great quality and brilliant service from the staff and fantastic window table with a beautiful view.
Waited in que for an Hour, order taken then WAITED again, Fish- wasn't in batter or bread crumbs but looked like a mixture of both and so over cooked, tasted awful, will never go there again. My daughter got hers from Coast chip shop next door and it was lovely.
Lovely fresh seafood, literally caught and bought straight to the restaurant. The views are lovely as well.I had catch of the day which was Seabass it was so tasty and my partner had the battered prawns which I sampled and they were also amazing! Will definitely visit again when we are in the area.
Another tasty meal with a good view overlooking the harbour. A nice ambience, but one needs to book in advance.
