Was Jackie Joday at Halvorson's a mag?
I have never had a better fish chowder in my entire life. I am in my 70s and have tried chowder along the coast of Washington and in Alaska. The fish chowder at this restaurant surpasses everything I have ever tasted. Thank you! View all feedback.
What Dawn D dislikes about Halvorson's:
My family of 5 entered the restaurant and was seated immediately. The waiter, who also doubled as the main bartender, was very friendly. It seemed like there were only 2 employees working at the entire establishment. He took our drink and food orders, but we had to remind him about our drinks as they didn't arrive with the food. I recently discovered this hidden gem. They offer a lake to table fish fry, which was absolutely delicious. Couldn't ask for anything more!

The food was good. Now please take into account that it is a bar. That being said, they had a nice menu selection. My husband and I ate here twice while in town. We both enjoyed our food. My husband had a burger n fries both times. I had the BLT once and a burger the second time. Staff were fun, kind, and helpful. Prices were reasonable as well.
Ever been to a bar/restaurant and when you walk in, the music stops and everyone in the place welcomes you with the most distasteful look? Even the employees of the establishment? Everyone stares as if you’ve violated their sensibilities by coming to their filthy dump. If not head to Little Nikkis. Weve been coming to Corny for 40 years. And have eatin at Ponchos, Fish Lipps, the original Lil Nikki’s and now this “under new management” version of Little Nikki’s. Sadly, we miss you Nikki. The new version is a far cry from the place you built and ran. Gone is the welcoming feeling and smiles as we walked in. Gone is the menu filled with your family recipes and corny (no pun intended) puns and yummy offerings. Replaced with a bar menu of items more often found in an episode of Bar Rescue than the wonderful place that used to be. The food was awful by any measurement. Burgers were preformed patties from Costco, chicken is from a package (precooked) and pizza was basically served on cardboard. The restrooms were filthy and unkept. The smell of diapers mixed with sewage filled the air with an aroma that would make a black bear change directions. If you’re headed to Cornucopia pass this place up. Go to the Fat Radish (make a reservation) and enjoy some real food. Or hit up the gas station and buy a frozen pizza and beer. You’re sure to get more for you buck, and have less of a chance at contracting the coronavirus (yep... they even joked about no masks or social distancing) or botulism. Come back Nikki. We miss you!! Little Nikki’s offers a peculiar dining experience, marked by contrasting reflections from patrons. While some diners appreciate the decent food and friendly staff, others lament the loss of the inviting atmosphere and cherished family recipes that once defined the establishment. Guests report uneven service, with long waits and inadequate response time becoming a theme, especially for newcomers. Concerns around cleanliness and adherence to health guidelines have also emerged, casting a shadow over the food offerings. Despite notable highlights, including exceptional fish chowder, it seems the restaurant struggles to balance nostalgia with contemporary dining expectations.

I stumbled upon this hidden gem and tried their fish fry - it was absolutely delicious! I couldn't ask for more.
In my 70 years, I have never had fish chowder as delicious as the one I tried along the coast of Washington and in Alaska.
The food is fantastic, made with fish fresh from the lake. This has been my favorite fish dinner in the area this year!
