It was all fresh and really hot, clearly the high standards carried on even when it was quiet. The gentleman at the bar was really friendly and was nice to hear him talk to the local customers. Hidden gem, so much better than the last time I was here about ten years ago. (Also I love the portion size of the chips on my burger, I doubled the fries and there was so much! 10/10

What a massive disappointmen... read more We came here for our wedding anniversary. We chose here as its local and thought it would be a nice change to our usual restaurant. What a massive disappointment. We waited an hour for our meals. We only got them when we asked what had happened. My meal was good but smaller than expected and my husbands meal was extremely over cooked. I’m wondering whether it was forgotten on the side and reheated when we asked about our missing meals. We definately won’t be returning.

Ordered a pint of bier morreti a j2o which came to £8.80 which I thought was a tad expensive.ordered our food which was gammon with 2 eggs chips onion rings peas and hunters chicken and chips for dinner tonight. Ten minutes after placing our order the barman came over to tell me they had ran out of eggs and was there an alternative I wanted as I can't eat pineapple I said no and then he said he will take £2.00 off my next drink which he never did. The gammon I had was not very enjoyable as half of it was very chewy with it being very fatty chips were nice as was the hunters chicken sorry spread but I will never come back the worst meal I have ever had.

The food has always... read more I haven't been to the Spread in a while and as a local, I can say that the appearance and reputation of the pub are better than the reality. The food has always been mediocre and the service slow. However, I decided to give it another chance after hearing that they were now dog friendly. I called to confirm they were serving lunch, but no one answered after three attempts. When I arrived at the nearly empty pub, I asked the server for menus and she pointed over without much enthusiasm. The food I ordered, a steak sandwich and a fish finger sandwich, arrived cold, as did the chips. Despite the lackluster service and food quality, I attempted to order more drinks but was met with more apathy. In the end, I decided not to comment on the poor experience and rated the parking, cleanliness, service, food, and drinks all below average. Sadly, I won't be returning to the Spread.

The managers are also kind and make sure that dogs are made to feel welcome too, by fussing over them and ensuring they have water and treats.

We had ordered fries and a kids meal, but received chunky chips instead of fries. The kids' burger was also raw and inedible. Additionally, the outdoor smoking area's decking was in poor condition, with overflowing ashtrays. Despite requesting to speak to a manager, we were informed they had already left for the day. We were offered a discount on our meal, but the overall experience was disappointing. Many other families were also complaining about the run-down appearance of the place and the disinterested staff. This restaurant, which used to be a favorite, is now not recommended.

I received an email asking me to pre-book our... read more I booked The Spread Eagle for Mother 's Day lunch at 1pm for five of us, thinking it would make a pleasant change. I received an email asking me to pre-book our menu choices, and after a few queries which were responded to quickly) our choices for starters and main were emailed to them the week before. We arrived in good time, gave the staff behind the bar our name, and were shown to our reserved table. On sitting down at our table, I trod on what I first thought was dropped food. Unfortunately, it was a 'gift ' on the carpet, left by a visiting dog, which was now all over my boot. We informed the staff who were as shocked as we were, and offered us another table while they cleaned the carpet and I went outside to clean my boot). They said we could have drinks on the house, but we had already ordered and paid for drinks. At about 1.25pm I went to ask if our food would be coming out soon. The female staff looked confused and said we should have told the staff when we arrived, so the kitchen could be informed. I tried to explain that the food was pre-ordered and as we 'd given our name on arrival, we naturally thought this would suffice. No apology offered, but after 10 to 15 minutes, our starters arrived. After another shorter wait, four of the mains were brought out, and we waited for the fifth. A staff member came over and asked Is there anything missing? to which my husband replied, Yes, my meal . He had to tell her what he 'd ordered and it was eventually brought out, after the rest of us had pretty much finished eating. The food was not brilliant we 've eaten here before on several occasions with no problems). At best it was pretty average with poor presentation, but the service was very poor with the staff appearing to be inexperienced and disorganised, trying to cope with difficult situations. Another larger group were also having problems and asked to speak to the manager, but were told she 'd left the building. It 's such a shame that a once brilliant pub with great facilities has deteriorated to this low standard. The staff need more support and more training and there should be better communication between kitchen and front of house staff. The staff appeared to lack experience and there didn 't seem to be anyone around to manage the issues or give guidance. They reduced our bill by 30% £15 deducted) but this was sadly not a pleasurable or relaxing Mother 's Day meal out!

I took care of tammy very well. very appealing and friendly. had our 7yr old grandson and was fascinated by finn, who made him watch as he prepared the pizzas. eating was a good quality with generous portions and great taste. quiz went in the bar, as we were in the restaurant, so enjoyed a small formation of the gray materie. worth a visit.
