Service , food, ambiance all first class...don't arrive early , they don't have a bar or waiting area...once you are seated get ready for a first class Italian restaurant experience. I grew up in the Gables and always enjoy spending time in the city. Unfortunately, my first experience at Portsole was disappointing. Despite there being available tables, the host seemed too busy to accommodate a party of two, so we decided to go to a competitor instead. It’s really unfortunate that at 6:30 PM, with plenty of empty tables, they couldn’t seat us for dinner. Wishing you the best with your business. View all feedback.
This was my third or fourth time at Portosole. This time I took my mom for lunch to celebrate my 50th birthday. We had one of the loveliest afternoons in recent memory. The food was, as always, superb. The ambiance lovely and the service was especially exquisite. This is a true gem in Coral Gables. How lucky we are to have Portosole in the neighborhood!!
It was our second visit and I have to start by saying that the food is excellent but there are things that should not happen in a place like this and for that reason I am giving it 3 stars unlike my first visit was 5 stars. My reservation was at 9:30 PM, I arrived at 9:00 PM, I was attended by a man who seemed to be the manager or the owner, he explained that my table would not be ready until 9:30 PM and I understand perfectly but, What is unacceptable is that in a place like this my wife and I have to wait for a table standing outside the restaurant because they don't have room, at the bar or they don't have an area to sit and wait for the table. 30 minutes later I realize because I entered again that the people who were at the bar had already sat at a table and this man was unable to notify us so that we could sit down to eat at his bar in his restaurant if he is the owner, and record that several times he looked out and saw me and my wife standing outside waiting, it was my intention to sit down and have a drink at the bar while the table was ready, if it had not been for the time that it was, of course I would have left It was also that they could charge me from the credit card that you have to leave at the time of making the reservation. In addition, the table was not ready at 9:30 p.m. as he had said, it was ready at 10:00 p.m. and to add insult to injury, we sat down and the waiter who attended me the previous time and I think he knows very well good to do his job, very professional the truth but that day I don't know what happened to him, he tells me to order the food that the kitchen was about to close, that is also unacceptable. For the rest, as I already mentioned, the food is excellent, as is the service, except for the situation explained above. Don't do that, your restaurant leaves a lot to be desired.

I have been to Portosole many times, usually I have had an exceptional experience except last night. I assumed that the big block of pecorino/reggiano cheese was available for any dish... I requested to have a bit of it shaved for my guest 's risotto... rather, he brought an order of the spaghetti mixed inside said cheese. Apparently, this is a dedicated block of cheese for a spaghetti dish. Admittedly, it was a misunderstanding and my/our own misperception. I was embarrassed, apologized to him profusely, to which the waiter 's answer was the chef was upset, he gave me a hard time ... The waiter was obviously upset at me... leaving myself and my guests confused. I did reach out to the manager, who was supportive and assured that it was inconsequential. Although this experience will not preclude me from visiting again, my advice to the restaurant 's staff is to be a tad more careful when taking orders by verifying and checking without a sense of rush. Plus, misunderstandings do happen -suggest chef and staff understand that as patrons, we go there to have a positive experience and not to be put in the spot. Still, based on previous experiences and moreover, the quality of the food, I can honestly say that this is one of the best restaurants in Miami.
