What User doesn't like about Takano Japanese Ramen:
We ordered three different rams from the menu, and while none were terrible, none were great. I understand that in the Tri-Cities region there is a tenacity of Rammen restaurants, so I can assume that some of the above average reviews come from this simple fact. In the larger area of Vancouver there are a lot of fantastic raven restaurants that make Takano pal compared. You won't hate it if you eat here, but I wouldn... View all feedback.
I came here tonight because I saw they had a vegan's menu. On this menu there are Tofu Gyoza and Vegetarian Ramen. The vegetarian ramen is NOT vegan. The noodles contain egg. I now understand that they probably do not fully understand the difference between vegan and vegetarian and make a mistake when printing the menu. It should say Vegetarian menu. We have double checked when the order came because we noticed the yellow noodles and were told that there can be a little egg in the noodles and that the noodles are ordered and they do not make them in the house. So we asked if she was able to check the label whether there was really egg or not and she said Oh yes, there is egg. We have briefly explained that Vegan does not mean animal products at all. She said when we have an egg allergy, we have to tell her before we order. And we tried again to tell her that Vegan didn't mean any animal products. And she laughed at us and went away. Then she gave us broth with only Veggies. She was 't really rude or mean, but I can't give a high rating because we're getting to eat crows and what we came about because of the vegan-labeled menu. If you want to get that Rarmen, the actually Vegan... drive to one of the Jinya Ramen sites and get their Spicy creamy vegan arms. It's crazy DELICIOUS
Love this place! The vegan ramen is perfect if you need a hot bowl of healthy soup on a cold, rainy day. The owners are very friendly and the service is fast. Definitely when I'm in the neighborhood!
After moving to the US for a few years with my family and now moving back home, Takano was our go to spot so naturally it was one of the first places we decided to dine at. Upon stepping inside we were surprised to see an entirely newly renovated interior, after the waitress seated us to our table the first question we asked was 'Are the couple who ran this place still around? ' sadly we were told they had retired/sold the place. Despite all of this the ramen was still good, keeping a lot of the fan favorites on the menu. Unfortunately I do not think we will be returning as the main reason for our repeated patronage was the previous owners.
I ordered the beef brisket ramen and it was delicious, as well as well-packaged for takeout. I will definitely be ordering it again! I found the regular spicy to be pretty mild, but still very tasty. I also tried the chicken katsu, which was beautifully crispy and not greasy, with a great taste. The salad was fresh and crunchy. I will definitely be ordering from this restaurant again.
Utterly disappointed!!!! I used to come here often when it was owned by the lovely couple, Peter and Agnes. They had the perfect ramen. Now it’s watered down and tasteless and lacking in depth and flavor. They don’t age the broth like the original owners did. Also the original owners were kind and warm and polite… the owner/server now is the exact opposite of all that and very unprofessional.Luckily there are lots of better ones in the Coquitlam area with better service!!!
