Was Shan Susan Huang at Honjin Ramen a mag?
I really enjoyed the flavor of the Ma Po Udon, which was quite good. I also added bamboo shoots as a side topping. The karaage deep-fried chicken was excellent. I’ll definitely return just for those two dishes. View all feedback.
What Kevin Hill dislikes about Honjin Ramen:
This is my first time writing a review, so you can imagine how disappointed I am. I ordered the vegan ramen, but as soon as I tasted the miso broth, it was so salty that I knew I couldn't eat it. I tried just the noodles and vegetables, but they didn't taste right either. When I smelled the broth, the aroma was overpowering and felt as if it was burning my nose with harsh chemicals. This is definitely my favorite ramen spot! The service has improved significantly. The restaurant is clean, especially the bathrooms, and there are plenty of parking spaces available. My go-to dish is the classic Shoyu Ramen; the broth is incredibly rich, and I can't get enough of it! My husband and I also really enjoy their takoyaki. The tonkatsu is best enjoyed with rice and their miso soup. Highly recommended!

I ended up getting up, paying, and leaving the full bowl on the table—something I’ve never done before in my life.
The atmosphere is delightful and the service is incredibly quick. You must try their specialty karaage; it’s quite possibly the best I’ve had in Vancouver. The ramen was also excellent, with a generous serving that even pleased some picky friends who typically prefer a lighter broth.
I was really disappointed with the gomoku ramen—it’s likely the worst ramen I’ve had in several years. The broth had an unusual flavor that reminded me of ginger mixed with chicken powder and cornstarch. I might have just picked the least appealing option; my friend who ordered the miso ramen thought it was decent. We did share an order of gyoza, which was acceptable. Overall, though, given the quality of the food, I don’t think I would return.
I visited the restaurant today for some shio ramen and takoyaki. The takoyaki was decent, but it wasn't made fresh; they simply heated up some frozen ones and added sauce on top. Unfortunately, the shio ramen was the worst I've ever had. The broth tasted like a mix of ginger powder and chicken powder, and the noodles lacked the authentic ramen flavor. Overall, it was a disappointing experience—definitely one of the worst. There are so many ramen spots in Vancouver, all of which are far tastier than this place.
