Red Neck -b-que - Cooperstown
Red Neck -b-que
Description
Redneck BBQ in downtown Cooperstown serves warm, rustic charm with quirky vintage signs and an inviting bar, making it popular with tourists and baseball crowds. Appetizers like fried green tomatoes and a bargain catfish po' boy shine, and some mains please, but barbecue consistency is an issue: ribs, pulled pork and some chicken have been reported dry, undercooked or fatty. Service and large-party handling are hit-or-miss—pleasant when smooth, but long waits and a high-profile cancellation have frustrated patrons.

I ordered the sampler platter, and while it looked appealing, the experience fell short. The pulled pork was cold and mushy, as if it had been overcooked. The ribs were also disappointing; they were undercooked, and I had to use a knife to separate the meat from the bone, which was rubbery. The rest of the items were unremarkable, though the mac and cheese stood out in a not-so-great way as it seemed like it wasn't made from scratch. Overall, I would recommend saving your time and money.
Came here with a party of 20. The system of ordering/paying at the counter is fine, especially if you call ahead and reserve your tables. The service was ok, they forgot a number of items and had to track them down to get them. This alone would not warrant two stars, but the food was not very good. The ribs had no flavor, the pulled pork was worse and the burger was barely ok. With so many places to chose from in the area, I would recommend bypassing this place.
Paid way to much for crapy burgers and fries. Fries were overcooked and you had to pay extra for them. The chips it comes with are a joke. Don't eat here unless you absolutely have nowhere else to eat.
Service was good for how packed it was due to induction weekend but food was just not good. The ribs were drier than the Sahara desert. It just feels like a place that is named for bbq would have that made well. Another thing, they were unable to change the channels of the television, which isn't something I would normally complain about. However it is induction weekend for baseball so to not be able to put the baseball games on is just not okay. Cooperstown is lovely and there although small, there are plenty of way better restaurants to go to.
Attention baseball teams! We had booked a reservation a month in advance for 50 people and even called twice to confirm while we were in Cooperstown. Just two hours before our reservation, they canceled on us, saying they couldn't accommodate us anymore. It seems like they must have received a better offer. This was incredibly disappointing, and now we're in a panic trying to find another place. The worst part? They just didn’t seem to care at all! This was one of the worst experiences I've ever had—avoid this restaurant!
