My wife, daughter and I popped into this local Chinese unannounced and were quickly seated, watered, and fed with a minimum of fuss. It is, when all is said and done, a perfectly acceptable suburban Chinese that seems to do a roaring take away trade. The homemade steamed dim sims were great, shantung chicken moist and scrumptious (needed fresh chilli though) and the fried kwao teow noodles better than average. Would... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Papillon:
Although the food was quite tasty ( except- the vegs in oyster sauce were limp and quite disappointing), the portions were actually quite small, especially shared between 6 people, and we thought over priced compared to a couple of other Hong Kong/Chinese Malay restaurants in Newcastle we frequent regularly( main courses $8-10 dearer at Papillon). A nice little place, but certainly nowhere near the best Chinese food... View all feedback.
Very authentic taiwanese flavour! Love it ! Especially the fried chick!
Good is sensational, tapas/share plates only, but everything is unique and really good! I had the zucchini spaghetti, I'm no veg, but it ad great and the spanner crab was sensational! Love the place: a wine in an original bank-style building; high ceilings, beautifully designed, large, darkly well-lit with a corner of large comfortable couches, candles, oh and the fabulous wine list.
Very yummy food. Lovely little restaurant very simple. Very good value.
The best Chinese cuisine in Newcastle! I love the hot and sour soup and all the other authentic dishes! I will definitely be returning again!
I ordered a variety of dishes and was not disappointed by any of them. This restaurant is a must-try.
