Was User at Darby Raj a mag?
We went for a quick meal here on a recommendation. Staff initially were a little quiet but did become more engaging when ordering. The food is good, not as good as what I ate in Northern India. I found the beef Vindaloo to be very mild, and maybe that is more the locals liking. Is pleasant place to sit down and enjoy your meal but there is a lot of take away traffic coming in and out so sit down the far end is my sugg... What User dislikes about Darby Raj:
I just went to Darby Raj to buy a portion of chilli pickle, that's all. I stood right in front of the till for 5 minutes, with the chilly pickle in my hand. The staff completely ignored me. Looked through me. And lost a local regular customer, for good. Well done. View all feedback.

My favourite place in newcastle, I love the auberginen pakoras and onion bhajee as a entree. I look forward to the thoughts. they can get mint yogurt sauce with them that is amazing. the most important dishes are delicious. when I lived in newcastle. I'd eat here all the time if I love it so much.
The woman who served me had a very unfriendly attitude. I asked after 1 wobble bhaji and she put 3 in the pocket and then accused me for 3! eating was not great at all, too oily and has not tasted authentic. no attempt. eco friendly. plastic bags, plastic containers and plastic utensils. avoids this place like the plague from now on!
These guys can cheat Non Indians but trust me, the taste is far from Indian taste and Horrible and Rude staff. The curries or whatever they call are loads of oil with zero taste and all you taste is butter and no matter what curry...you order.
I have been going to Darby Raj every time I go to Newcastle for years. Usually I would not go to a place which has buffet style food as I otefer it to be freshly cooked but Darby Raj food is good. The dahl is...excellent as are the other vegetarian dishes. If you want rice and a couple of curries to eat there or take away, Darby Raj offers a cheap but tasty option. I have done BYO before when eating in.
If you are in Darby St Newcastle and you crave quality Indian food then Darby Raj is for you. Eating space is a little restricted but the food is great.

Our favorite restaurant recently underwent a change in ownership after 30 years. The new owners have done a fantastic job, offering the same delicious dishes with a new twist and providing excellent service. I highly recommend checking it out.
We had lunch with friends at the restaurant today. It is still the best Indian food in Newcastle. We ordered Chicken Kashmiri, Mango Chicken, and Fish curry, along with naan and Mango lassi. Everything was extremely delicious.
The food and service at this restaurant are fantastic! The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming. A must-visit for those who love Indian cuisine.
