I love everything. The sushi should die, but I wish they would bring back the sky nigiri. That's the best sushi thing I ever had. We have often eaten there and are going to eat there. View all feedback.

Let me first say that I never live in my time in Miami, and Orlando, FL we never have problems with a cook made changes due to an allergy. My fiancé and I just moved to Cookeville and were suggested by friends to try this place, we were hoping to find our new Sushi place. Now my fiancée is DEADTHLY allergic to shellfish, we tried to bring the Sashimi appetizer plated (which happens to bring shrimps) we asked if the shrimp could possibly be changed for another fish and we would be happy to pay a charge for it. We were told to chef REFUSES to make changes to his menu. Then we asked if we had ordered another sushi plate and simply did not make the cook the rolls with shellfish (what spirit you are half the dishes) would we be charged even full price? We were told... The chef REFUSED therefore expected us to pay the full price for half a dish. All this communication ran back and forth between the cook and our server, she was great and tried everything in her power to help us, but was stuck between an unprofessional cook/manager and a hard place. We paid for our drinks, even leaving the young lady with a tip. I would never recommend this place to anyone with or without food restrictions, and I will never return again.
Love this restaurant!! I've eaten sushi all over the world and Taiko in Cookeville ranks right up there with the best of them. The service is right on and the sushi itself is marvelous. My favorite is the Cookeville Roll, but there are so many to choose from you really need to go with a group and sample all or make several trips back. It's worth the time!!
I love Taiko! The sushi is so tasty and they have a ton of different kinds to sample. I love to support our locally owned restaurants, and this is a great choice in Cookeville,TN.
This is my first bad review for a restaurant, but I left enraged!!! We travel often and LOVE trying new sushi restaurants. We decided to try Taiko for lunch, this was our first and last visit to this establishment. We were sampling different rolls as well as the sashimi. All were OK until we had a problem with one of the rolls. It was supposed to have cooked shrimp inside topped with spicy scallops. The scallops were tasty, however the shrimp was burnt. It took us about 15 minutes to get the servers attention (she was the only server working), she took it to the back. When she returned, she informed us that Sam (the owner) had personally made it and it wasn 't burned. That the shrimp were cooked with a thing called panko bread crumbs and that 's the way they look. Now, my problem is that I cook with panko and when it is cooked to the color of the seaweed and smells .... THERE IS A PROBLEM! We asked to speak to Sam, she told us that she would check to see if he was available. When she arrived without him, she said that he wouldn 't speak with us and that it wasn 't her problem that she just worked there. BEWARE... Our lunch for 2 was $55 dollars (we had no liquor), service ended up awful and the owner has the worst customer service we have ever experienced! Good luck to you in a poor economy....
