Found this on tripadvisor so decided to book for Sunday lunch The place itself is just perfect, nice and homely with a very vibrant local atmosphere and was full all the time we were there We ordered the beef and the lamb and it came with fantastic roast and mash potatoes, broccoli, carrots ,peas and a fantastic leeks in sauce plus the big Yorkshire pudding Wow ,quality and taste was outstanding,we both have it 10 Then we both had a sweet ,mine was sticky toffee pudding with ice cream and my better half had chocolate brownie with ice cream..again absolutely gorgeous We came a long way to sample and we would do so again in a heartbeat Place ,staff ,food , service was brilliant Thank you ...and please you must visit this absolute gem
We went here twice on our holiday, once for Sunday lunch and once for the pizza and pub quiz on a Wednesday. Both were excellent, the staff are amazing and it was a lovely mix of locals and visitors. Can't recommend it enough.
A traditional Sunday lunch in a traditional village pub. Six of us visited to celebrate an 80th birthday. The hosts added a lovely ‘happy birthday’ sign to the table and service was polite and friendly. Starters were baked brie, mushroom and Stilton bake and mushroom soup. All delicious. We had a mixture of beef, lamb and chicken for mains all served with roast and mash potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and veg. Great gravy and lovely tender meat. If I’m being picky I would say the portions were a little on the small side, especially the chicken, but we would prefer to eat every scrap of good food than a giant plate of average grub. A chocolate fudge cake and a couple of scoops of ice cream were enough for those needing dessert. Price very reasonable and huge thanks to the honest waiter who realised we had left a credit card behind. Much appreciated. There’s not a lot of choice in the area, so thank goodness this place does a cracking Sunday roast! Recommended.
Saturday evening curry with Kerry as the cook. Delightful. The pudding was tremendous. Nice warm fire on a freezing night.
