We spent a family weekend in Coastal Carolina and had a meal with our son and his roommates at this restaurant by the river. The peaceful atmosphere was perfect for enjoying our meal. Our waitress did a fantastic job taking care of us. We will definitely be coming back to this city for another visit. View all feedback.
What Jacinthe Schumm doesn't like about Bonfire:
I went to the restaurant with some friends wanting to have a nice meal. The service started off poorly as we were rudely told at the bar that they don't serve martinis with olives. I ordered the seafood sampler, but was disappointed to find that the fish was raw in the middle and the shrimp were undercooked. After a second attempt, the seafood was still not cooked properly. I ordered the seafood sampler, but was disappointed to find that the fish was raw in the middle and the shrimp were undercooked. After a second attempt, the seafood was still not cooked properly. The coleslaw that came with our meals was also inedible. I am not a picky eater when it comes to seafood, but I was unimpressed with the quality at this restaurant compared to what I am used to on the coast of North Carolina. Overall, I would not recommend eating at Bonfire for seafood.
I am extremely pleased with the food and ambiance! It may be a bit out of the way, but it's definitely worth the trip.
I liked how many options they had. It's rather refreshing, especially when everything else in the area seems to focus on seafood. We tried the catfish and authentico tacos. Both were really good. The authentico taco fell apart immediately and there was no saving it, but it was delicious. We also tried the pulled pork sandwich and sweet potato fries. Very good. The fried chicken sandwich was massive. The Mac and cheese could be a meal by itself. And the pork chili rellenos was really good. The side of street corn was also good, but quite salty. I wish it had not. been so hot or I would have enjoyed lunch outside.
We've been to this restaurant multiple times in the past and have enjoyed it. This time our service was poor and the food was unimpressive. Our server, jordan, barely spoke to us besides to take our order. It was happy hour and we weren't even offered drink refills. Our meal came out before our appetizer, mind you all we ordered for our appetizer was chips, queso, quac, and salsa. The queso was terrible. No flavor. You could've gotten better from Tostitos. The rest of the staff was rude and dismissive and didn't wear their masks properly. Disappointing to see a restaurant that was once so good be so poor now. Won't be going back.
