on the path of the conquests, on the banks of the river, a magical place with a perfect welcome. the entries and dishes are well, knowing to marry without fault the flavors. the ensemble accompanied by the wines chosen with goodness by the sympathetic sommelier. What tedp17 doesn't like about Herve Busset:
Booked into this restaurant for a special night while staying in the old town of Conques. Not realizing that it is a long uphill walk from the restaurant to the Hotel Ste Foy where we were staying, we were most disappointed that on the day of our booking we were able to arrange a taxi to the restaurant but not home. Our Hotel tried three taxis and the restaurant but no one was able to help. So......if you are staying... View all feedback.

Just at the foot of the beautiful city of conques, in a green setting and by the river, the mill is a pretty stone building where you can enjoy the noise of water, the song of birds and the crusting of frogs. we enjoyed the kitchen that has a true personality around the plants with beautiful taste surprises. the leader has the look that illuminates as soon as he speaks of his morning picks and generously shares his inspirations. the whole team is very professional, attentive and pleasant. We were particularly well advised by the sommelier who made us make great discoveries. portraits at the entry of different suppliers is a great initiative and the development of all stakeholders in the value chain. We intend to return quickly and will keep an excellent memory of this stay for a birthday.
Just fantastic: Perfumes all over your plate, imaginative display and composition, creative beyond words. Would be in London prices would add extra 0 and waiting list couples of weeks. Too bad for the bad taste of paintings on the wall. Go all lucky food lovers travelling this part of the world. Whomever does not agree with us should take the line at MacDonald... Vive la France!
We had a perfectly enjoyable meal in this pleasant environment, but it was not perticularly memorable. The food is unusual and beautifully presented, but the general feeling was that the experience was more artistic than gastronomic. The decor is like so many chic French restaurants very modern, a but hard and angular, peculiar metal sculptures on the table, and lighting so low that we had to use our iphone flashlights to read the menu. Good chefs should not put themselves in the hands of trendy avant garde interior designers! Let the food speak for itself.
The setting of the restaurant/hotel is very relaxing, directly on a small river with views on green hills/mountains. The Aperitif was served outside and was a really nice start. For the Epure menue we went inside. The 8 courses brought some surprises in unknown tastes, for example a sauce from Douglas Tree in combination with trout or a puree of smoked sweet potatoes in combination with pigeon. We had a very nice organic Champagne that fitted the different courses very well the restaurant has a large selection of organic Champagnes! The presentation of the courses was thought through, though sometimes a bit colorless and pale in comparison to the presentation of the courses on the website, where there are a lot of flowers and herbs assorted together with the courses. – Particular the trout course looked a bit poor, though the taste was quiet nice. You are not visiting this restaurant for its interior design, though(! – which is a bit of a nightmare and looks more like a random collection of found things, then a thought through appropriate frame for the message of the kitchen...
