Bauer's Dam Resort - Conover
Bauer's Dam Resort
Description
Perched on the lake, this cozy family-run bar and resort is a popular stop for snowmobilers and sightseers, offering scenic patio seating, bird-filled decks, local beers and strong cocktails (notably a brandy Old Fashioned). Menu favorites — soups, cheese curds, pizza, tacos and chili — win praise, though portions and prices draw criticism and quality can be inconsistent. Small indoor space, counter ordering and limited parking in high season mean plan ahead. Friendly staff and lively atmosphere make it worth a try, with occasional service hiccups.

I have been visiting Bauer's Dam Resort for the past 35 years, and it has become my family's cherished vacation spot. Donna and Glen, the owners, have created a remarkable place that exudes warmth, hospitality, and a genuine love for what they do. I cannot recommend this resort highly enough! One of the highlights of our visits to Bauer's Dam Resort is the remarkable homestyle food. The kitchen serves up mouthwatering dishes that are reminiscent of home-cooked meals. Whether it's breakfast, lunch, or dinner, the flavors are rich, the portions generous, and the quality consistently exceptional. The dedication to using fresh, local ingredients is evident, and every meal feels like a hearty feast. Their selection of souvenir clothes is trendy, unique, and a perfect way to remember your stay. You'll find everything from stylish t-shirts to cozy hoodies, all adorned with the resort's charming logo. The quality of these items is fantastic, making them great mementos or gifts for loved ones. Now, let's talk about fishing! The dam at Bauer's Dam Resort provides an incredible fishing experience. The waters are teeming with a variety of fish, and the serene surroundings make it an angler's paradise. Whether you're an experienced angler or a novice, you're bound to have a fantastic time casting your line and reeling in some impressive catches. The memories made on those fishing trips will be cherished for years to come. The cabin rentals at Bauer's Dam Resort are the epitome of comfort and cleanliness. The cabins are well-maintained and offer a cozy retreat after a day filled with activities. The reasonable prices make them accessible to a wide range of guests, and the accommodations are tailored to meet your needs. Whether you're seeking a romantic getaway or a family adventure, there's a cabin that will exceed your expectations. Bauer's Dam Resort is a gem that has captured the hearts of my family and me. The combination of great homestyle food, friendly service, cool souvenir clothes, and incredible fishing opportunities by the dam makes it a truly special place. If you're seeking a slice of paradise and a genuine family-oriented experience, Bauer's Dam Resort is the place to be.
Our cabin was perfect, great view, good accommodations. We ate at the restaurant for dinner one evening and enjoyed.
We visited in the middle of a cold Friday afternoon, along with dozens of other snowmobilers. Service was fast, but their pricing is that of a much higher quality establishment. We ordered a Frito Pie , which is a normal sized bowl of chili (which was good), with Fritos sprinkled over it, jalapenos, cheese, and sour cream. As lunch, it was fine. However, it was not worth anywhere near $13.99 tx. Most of the burgers were also $13.99, and they were average sized burgers that went by, nothing more. Next week, we will stop at Burnt Bridge Grill instead, as their burgers are $2-$3 less...so even if they are also only average, they will still be a better deal.
