I’ve been want to try Ernie’s for awhile now, and finally did last weekend. First of all, the women working there are super friendly and they’re a mother-daughter pair! Love it!!The doughnuts were to die for. I got a raspberry filled one and a plain glazed. I’m not really a doughnut person, but these could definitely convert me. The glazed were the right combination of moist and sweet and the raspberry filling actual... View all feedback.
What Kathryn Walsh doesn't like about Ernie's Mountain Bakery Cafe:
Share the same sentiments as Dan. All neighbors agree that we've given this place numerous chances and the prices are much more than their counterparts and the food is not edible mostly. Sorry for the bad review, but maybe it will encourage some positive change. View all feedback.
If I could give them no stars I would DO NOT waste your money, we ordered 2 pies and it cost us $120. The bakery at Safeway has better tasting pies then Ernie's does at a reasonable price. We gave it two tries and never again it's a total rip off.

Do not waste your money this place is outrageously priced, we paid $120 for 2 average tasting pies. The bakery at Safeway does a much better job on their pies, cakes etc., without breaking the bank. Ridiculous, never again.
I really really wish I could like this bakery. I reside in King 's Valley and a bakery at the base of the hill would be amazing. However, after multiple attempts I have given up on them. The biggest issue I have with them is their lack of transparent pricing. For example, we had walked down for another reason and stopped in and wanted to be supportive so picked up a frozen french onion soup. It ended up being a $18 container of soup and filled a little more than 2 mugs (not bowls). Additionally, it was not really french onion, it was more of a vegetable soup that leaned heavily on what looked like cabbage. My wife and I both gave it a 2/10 and ended up throwing most of it out.We have also tried donuts on multiple occasions. Again, pricing was not transparent and although I do not recall the exact price, they were way more expensive than we felt reasonable. In one case we did not get to see them beforehand (which sounds common based on discussions with neighbors) and the donuts ended up not being donuts but cake donuts which is a very different process...
We have made multiple attempts to get on board with Ernies. We love supporting local business and wish so badly this local bakery was worth a visit but unfortunately, my recommendation to stay far away from Ernie 's cannot be overstated. It is woefully overpriced. How does over $25 sound for 6 donuts ?? To call them donuts is a farse. They are poorly baked bunt cakes. They also tasted like they mistook the salt for sugar.A loaf of bread we purchased for an outrageous amount was burnt on the outside and raw dough in the middle. It was entirely inedible.I am always happy to pay a little more when it 's for well-made, quality goods and services especially from a local business. But I cannot justify spending even another cent here. Do not waste your time or your money.
