Contribute FeedbackDespite mixed reviews, Ashford Castle offers a unique dining experience, with The Dungeon providing a casual alternative. While some found the food overpriced and portions small, others praised the exquisite afternoon tea and fantastic service. The medieval ambiance and attentive staff add to the charm of dining in the castle. The cold dungeon setting received criticism, but the atmosphere and quality of dishes like venison meat pie were highly recommended. Despite some issues with the seating and service, most visitors enjoyed the experience and expressed a desire to return. Ashford Castle remains a must-visit destination for those seeking a magical dining experience in Ireland.
A beautifully renovated dining room that was once used by the servants for meals.
The dungeon is in the basement of the castle. This is where we ate and the food and service was very good. Very nice ambiance. Prices are as expected, 34-50 euro per main.
I was extremely disappointed with the restaurant. The steak was cold, expensive, and not worth the price. The atmosphere in The Dungeon was chilly, and even though the waiter tried to help by providing a small heater, it was not effective. This meal was meant to be a special reunion for myself and two friends, all nurses who trained together 40 years ago. Unfortunately, for 300 euros, it was a pretty terrible experience.
A perfect way to end a day of activities. The food was fantastic. Couldn't be more pleased. Atmosphere and décor is what I was looking for.
The food and service was excellent! And it was beautifully decorated. I was a little dissapointed that it didnt look anything like a dungeon. More like a high end restaurant.
