We have visited Les Cordeliers twice now, once in the Bistro (fabulous) and once for their tasting menu. Food was really good - and we are about to book again now we are back down in Condom, definitely our fave place to go! View all feedback.
What Élodie Laporte doesn't like about La Table des Cordeliers:
passing through the area and attracted by the reputation of the place and the comments, we wanted to have lunch in this restaurant with a couple of friends and our children. At our arrival, many places are available on the terrace. We therefore ask a table to the waitress that tells us, to our great surprise and with snobism, that there is a pizzeria a little further and that it offers menus children! our pitchounes a... The table of the ropes on the bistrot side offers some dishes! From the desserts our taste buds enjoy. The table of ropes on the bistrot side is a very good restaurant with a quality service.Meals on the terrace for dinner are appreciable.
Dinner with family, all the dishes of the card were tested with equal success. Don't hesitate to ask for the wine list of the starred restaurant, the choice is a little wider. Excellent value for money.
Pleasant setting, impeccable service and gourmet cuisine. I advise without reservation
There's been a year since we last visited, but we were too happy to be back on the menu you can follow through the pictures of the kids getting a modified menu, which were very satisfied.
Our bed and breakfast hostess recommend eating at La Table des Cordeliers. We would have been happy to try the Michelin starred restaurant, but she reserved the Bistro. As it turns out, it was nice enough, albeit kind of a quick in and out--only an hour. I guess I still expected a more leisurely French meal--even minus aperitifs. We ate outside on the terrace which was pleasant. The prices are certainly reasonable. It is a 24 euro menu with two choices for each of the three courses. After a couple of days of eating a lot of rich local fare we both opted for fish. The first course was a lentil salad with chunks of raw salmon, kind of thrown on top. The salmon could have been presented more attractively.. but it was all very flavorful. I'll take flavor over presentation any day. The individual breads were long mini baguettes.. which were just ok. They had a choice of good wines---either a glass--five euros each, a great deal---or a bottle. The main course was tuna with a grilled zucchini half, and spiraled raw zucchini in a vinaigrette piled on top. That was fine. But, we had asked for the tuna to be cooked "à point" which is supposed to be red inside---rare to medium rare, but more towards rare--- and ours were cooked all the way through, which of course made it dry. We stupidly ate it. I guess all the juicy zucchini helped it go down. I did mention it to the waitress afterwards. Not sure why I didn't say anything sooner. Did they think we were dumb Americans (now they do) or did they just not know how to cook tuna? Dessert was fine. For us, something fruity was perfect---light and refreshing. It was Peach Soup... thinly sliced peach in white wine, and a small amount of peach sorbet. As others have mentioned, when you ask for "l'addition" they send you inside to the desk, where the hostess is not to be found, then shows up, and disappears again, has lost your ticket and has to write up a new one.. and forgets to add the bottle of water, of which my husband kindly reminded her. I wonder if having someone call from a hotel to reserve made them have an attitude towards the clients? We speak French (we live in France part of the year), but I detected a bit of condescendence, or else they were just really distracted. Never rude, just a little odd. We don't usually run into that.It wasn't exactly Average---the parts that were good were very good. We enjoyed the dinner because it was light fare, and a pleasant atmosphere, and not expensive. I think the over cooked tuna was a big mistake (for any restaurant), and affected my overall rating, since it was the main course, but it was my mistake for not pointing it out immediately.
