Our food was very fresh and everything came out hot. We loved the falafel, chicken pita, and Greek rice bowl with chicken. The hummus and tzatziki were both very flavorful and vegetables tasted fresh. This restaurant was a pleasant surprise and we will be back to try more of the menu!
I visited this restaurant for the first time today with my parents who were in town. Since moving to Kannapolis, I haven't had the chance to enjoy Greek food, so we decided to give it a try. To put it simply, this might now be one of my favorite places to eat. The food was fantastic, and the portions were hefty—one entrée is enough for 2.5 meals! The salads were fresh and crisp, as well. I would rate this experience a perfect 10/10 and will definitely return.
Ridiculously good, very thankful to have Athens in Concord!
I’ve been staying in Concord for a few weeks and noticed this sign that said ‘The Greek Cafe’. I finally was able to try it and ran into Zoe! She recommended the chicken pita with a side a chips. My next visit I’m definitely planning on visiting again simply because of the service. Thank you Zoe for being warm and kind.
As a fellow Greek, I was really looking forward to trying this restaurant. I ordered a gyro and the beer-battered fries, and both were delicious! The tzatziki sauce was perfectly prepared. I asked for feta on my gyro, but it wasn’t included. I didn’t mind too much since the gyro still tasted great. I only gave it 4 stars because the woman at the front seemed a bit rude—maybe she was overwhelmed with the crowd, I’m not sure. Overall, though, the food I had was fantastic!
Gateway to Athens offers authentic, flavorful Greek cuisine with generous portions that satisfy every appetite. Diners praise the fresh salads, standout dishes like falafel rice bowls, spanakopita, and mouthwatering gyros, complemented by delightful desserts such as baklava. Many find the atmosphere and music immersive, creating a genuine Greek dining experience. However, service can be inconsistent—while some guests enjoy friendly, attentive staff, others report long waits, unresponsiveness, and occasional rudeness. The restaurant’s limited hours and occasional staffing shortages may affect availability. Overall, food quality shines, making it a worthwhile visit for lovers of authentic Mediterranean fare.

Mind blowing taste. Loved every dish that came to our table. Spicy feta dip was fabulous. Wraps, rice bowls are filling so order accordingly. Their taziki sauce is so good that we took home some to eat later.
One of the best Greek restaurants I have ever been to. Everything from the salad to the homemade hummus and falafel was absolutely delicious and bursts of freshly made food erupt in your mouth. I had the Moussaka for my entre and it was the best I have ever tasted. I can't say enough good things about Gateway to Athens. Service was extremely friendly. Food took a little bit to come out but that's a sign of a good restaurant that prepares dishes to order! First time here, but will absolutely not be my last time!!!!!!! Don't look any further, if you are looking for an absolutely delicious meal, this IS your place!!!!!
Terrible! I was the only client in the restaurant, a lady eating out alone. The waitress took a phone call (announcement to the person at the other end) while I was on the stand to order. She never came to my command. I went to the counter, she was behind the curtain that complained to someone about the call, never came into the front counter until I never said about my order. Then she had an attitude I left. Whatever! Did you do that??? Short staff is not responsible here.
This restaurant is undoubtedly the best in the Afton area when it comes to food quality. The staff is friendly and incredibly attentive. The prices are very reasonable for the generous portions! Anyone with a negative opinion about this place should probably stick to McDonald's, where they belong!
The food was great, and everything was served quickly. The beer bread is a must-try, and the gyro meat was absolutely delicious.

I freely admit that I'm not an expert on Greek cuisine, but I genuinely enjoy this restaurant! Every time I've visited, the staff has been exceptionally friendly. The food has consistently been excellent, and I have no complaints at all. I absolutely LOVE the brownies made by Brandi—they're top-notch! I would HIGHLY recommend this place!
I truly adore the moussaka and baked chicken at this restaurant. Each dish is unique and made from scratch. It's an amazing place that feels like a getaway from Concord, offering a warm ambiance filled with delicious food. Their desserts are absolutely incredible as well, so I wholeheartedly recommend it to all my friends and family!
The food was outstanding, including the best tzatziki I have ever had. House made desserts were top notch and cannot be missed. Service was quick and super friendly. We will be back!
Came here with my son and family and it was the best Greek food I have ever eaten!
Food is authentically Greek, delicious and the pricing very reasonable. The atmosphere is very casual. Not fine dining by any means, but if you are looking for good Greek food, this is the place to go!!! I'll be back there...alot!

The food was delicious but it took a very long time. We were there for about an hour and a half for an app and two entrees.
The food was excellent, and I suspect they might have been understaffed and hiring, as it took 30 minutes from the time I placed my order to receive my meal. The prices were reasonable, and the staff was friendly. Aside from the wait, which was not a problem for us, we truly enjoyed the food!
The food was fantastic! I absolutely loved the Baklava cake—it’s like an exotic version of carrot cake and it's delicious! We brought my whole family to celebrate my daughter's 40th birthday at her request, and we’ll definitely be back! They also offer vegetarian options like Spanakopita (spinach pie), Greek salad, and eggplant moussaka. Additionally, there are gluten-free and dairy-free options available.
Another wonderful visit at Gateway to Athens! Delicious food that never disappoints, professional and friendly service , atmosphere and music that makes you feel like you are in Greece! We now live in South Charlotte , always worth the trip to Concord, especially today as I got to see Rika and her beautiful grand daughter! Realized I've been eating here since 2006!
First time visit today with my parents in from out of town. I hadn't enjoyed Greek food since moving to Kannapolis so we decided to stop in.To put it bluntly, this may be at the top of my list of go to places. The food was delicious, the portions were large I'm talking 2.5 meals from one entree). The salads were fresh and crisp.10/10 will dine again.

Gateway To Athens is undoubtedly the best Greek restaurant in the area. If you're in the mood for delectable Greek cuisine, this is the place to go. The service is outstanding, and being a family-owned business adds to its charm. Be sure to check out their menu!
At Gateway To Athens, the service is outstanding and the food is incredibly delicious. Even during peak hours, the staff shows a sincere dedication to their work. The menu features fresh ingredients, and the flavors are consistently excellent.
We were in a bit of a rush and opted for a phone order. After picking up our food, we decided to sit on the patio, which I assume is not generally allowed here. Just two bites in, a woman...
