Stopped at Montanas for lunch with family and was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. 4 of us ate for 46 bucks which was a great price for really good food. I had a fantastic burger and the Pot roast beef soup was amazing! Kids enjoyed their pizza View all feedback.
What Maia Nikolaus doesn't like about Montana's BBQ & Bar:
We came to Toronto for a family getaway and we had a gift card so we chose to eat at Montana's. The service was slow, and the food was cold when it got to us. We had to go ask for cutlery. My husband and I both had steaks that were tough and the sides were lacking. The only saving grace was the cornbread and mile high pie. View all feedback.
My wife and I dropped in here because we knew the chain well enough to know the food would be good. We didn't have a lot of time so we ordered from the lunch special menu. The server was attentive and very good, refilling our drinks when they were low, and our meals while not fancy were tasty.I would have given them a rating of 4 out of 5, except the kitchen was very slow. We had about 40 minutes for lunch when got there, but only about 5 minutes to eat and run after the food arrived. So much for a speedy lunch menu.
Server, Victoria was friendly, attentive and all smiles. Kids received food really fast. Fire cracker burger was delicious. Chicken fingers were fine. Adult meals were sirloin steaks (45 mins ?) seemed kitchen lost order. Came out tough Ribs were dry. Double dusted wings were great. Assist Mgr was on top of mistaken orders. Listened and corrected issues. Went the extra efforts to make corrections and follow up too. Thank you.
I was hoping for better and thought how could they mess up a burger so I ordered the chipotle burger with a side Ceasar salad. The burger and bun were cold, the American cheese slice wasn't even melted. The salad had globs of dressing not mixed in. We ordered the cheese nachos for an appetizer. The server recommended we upgrade to include the extra cheese and guacamole which we did. Good thing! I had to ask if the extra cheese was added as it did not seem like extra cheese. The nachos cost $13.99, the extra cheese was $2.99 and the guacamole was $0.99 Not worth it! On the plus side, the server, Matt was very friendly. The restaurant was half full and they told a group of 5 or 6 that it would be a 45 minute wait because the kitchen was behind.
We arrived before the big rush, and in fact were told not to bother with reservations because we were early, and it was slow. But, the service was even slower. We had a toddler with us, so it wasn't great to have such slow servers - the hostess, waiter and other guy who brought stuff - all slow and forgetful. We had to specifically ask for utensils twice before getting them. Even when we asked for our bill so the baby could get to bed, the waiter starting clearing the table instead. We asked again, and he finally left, but did not make it a priority. We had a special offer through CAA, but the hostess did not know about it, and the waiter did not know about it. Good thing I had brought the info with me to share. And we did get the deal eventually, but really had to work for it.Fortunately the food was delicious when it finally arrived!
