Obviously popular with the locals, this minimalist restaurant is well laid out and furnished. Two properties up from the main car park (not off the beaten track), it seems that out of vision means non existant, in some people's minds. The menu is varied and...suits many tastes, including my vegetarian wife. The atmosphere is good, as are the acoustics (often the downfall of a restaurant). The service is friendly and... What Brigitte Arnaud doesn't like about La Verriere:
Lovely interior but the service from staff was substandard and we would never return. We went in for a couple of coffees and it was not even busy. After waiting for over 20 minutes with no one even coming to our table (we were sitting...right beside the bar) my wife went up to the bar and politely asked if we could order coffee. She was told to go back to her seat and they would be over. They did not come over for th... View all feedback.
Very busy restaurant with delightful staff. One of those places you need to know because it is hidden away from the main thoroughfare in Concarneau. Excellent meal.
We had a fantastic seafood meal here on a Friday night. Really generous portions of well cooked fish and good service in the restaurant. The house wine in carafe was really tasty and the atmosphere friendly and local. It's quite a trendy bar compared to the others we visited in Concarneau and has a few stools outside in the sun which we took advantage of in the afternoon.
Our visit to this restaurant was rather a disappointment. After ordering it took an hour for our entrées to arrive. When they did arrive the coquille st. Jacques had clearly been left too long under the grill. There was a thick ring of black carbon around the edge. The rest of the starters were reasonable. After another long wait our main courses came. Again, they were reasonable but expensive for what was on the plate. If you are looking to eat well, within a reasonable time-frame and get good value for money, choose somewhere else.
The staff were lovely, food delicious. Meal of 2 adult meals, 2 children's meals, one wine, 2 coffees, 2 fruit shoots, children's icecream, dessert and 2 coffees came to about €50, which is how much it would have cost us in Manchester so not too pricey. There is a well behaved dog behind the bar who occasionally comes into the restaurant and they are dog friendly.
Very good experience here would be 5 stars if the portions were somewhat larger, although service very good ambiance large
