We had a fantastic dining experience at Tal y Cafn. The staff were incredibly friendly, and we were promptly guided to our table. Our drink order was taken within minutes, and our drinks arrived quickly. Despite the restaurant being nearly full, the level of service was impressive. Our main courses came out right away, and the food was both delicious and generously portioned. The prices are reasonable for the high qu... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Tal Y Cafn:
I recently visited a very good gastropub that reopened under new management on July 19th. The dining area mainly consists of tables, with a small bar section offering a variety of beers. Unfortunately, there were no ales available on the hand pump, which was disappointing. However, the fresh fish from Anglesey was excellent, and the service was friendly. I definitely plan to return! Having booked a table had to wait 30 min for table Again had to wait for service someone different for everything, Food was very disappointed e.g Chowder had 3 pieces of prawns the rest was carrots swede and potatoes. Mushroom pasta was served with what was explained as half chicken breast but all it was 3 cubes of chicken.
We booked a table for 4 on opentable.co.uk on Sunday 30th June 2019 and received a confirmatory e-mail shortly afterwards. On arrival at the Tal y Cafn we discovered that it was closed and appeared to have been so for several days. After this experience we feel unable to trust the management to use the on line booking system correctly. In future we will book by phone. Fortunately we came across the nearby Ty Gwyn Inn in Rowen which provided excellent food, service, and value.
After a table had booked 30 min on the table had to wait again for the service someone else had to wait for everything, eating was very disappointed e.g. chowder had 3 pieces garne the rest was carrot-sweden and kartoffeln. mushroom pasta was explained with what was declared half a chicken breast, but all it was 3 cubes.
Poor service throughout. One meal out of 4 was cold on arrival (although this was promptly replaced when asked), and another turned up 10 minutes after everyone else's. Several of the options on the menu both main courses and desserts had run out. We were told that the head chef had walked out on the previous Sunday and it was an unusually busy night, but we had booked in advance. Though the food when it turned up was very good, we wont be returning.
SHOCKING! wouldn’t even bring my horse here to eat. In fact I’d rather eat my horse.
