We have dined at many four and five star Indian hotels over the years, but this was our first time at Alila Diwa since it was taken over by the Hyatt Group. Our impression was that the focus now seemed to be on weddings and conferences, as there were only two tables occupied when we visited with our Sri Lankan friends who were staying at the hotel. We had hoped for a large fish that could feed all seven of us, but the options were either red snapper or pomfret, both of which were only large enough for two people. The food was well-prepared and delicious, and the service was attentive, likely due to the lack of customers. However, the portions were small and not worth the price. In our opinion, we have had better dining experiences at one of the Majorda beach shacks, and there are several local restaurants that offer better value for a special dining experience.
We had a fantastic experience at Club Diwa by Alila. Our stay was made even better by the delicious food we enjoyed at Bistro, Vivo Spice Studio. Spice Studio is only open for dinner and it offers incredible flavors. The service provided by Paveen was excellent; he took great care of us. We only had vegetarian food, but the taste was amazing. Chef Anil and another friendly chef (whose name we don't recall) even made food according to our requests. The starters, soup, and main course were all very tasty. The ice creams here are exceptional.
We visited the restraunt while staying at the property. Rating it two stars because the food was good. The service however was poor. The wait time was inexcusable.
I thoroughly enjoyed the vegetarian dishes at this restaurant. The Singhara Kababs were exceptional! The ambiance was great and the chef was very friendly. I also recommend trying the coconut feni ice cream, it was delicious.
