Sermat African

Sermat African
4.2 / 5 (90 reviews)

Description

Relocated to 2009 E Dublin‑Granville Rd, this spot serves authentic West African comfort food — waakye, peanut‑butter soup and hearty stews — with generous portions and good value. Many praise the clean, homey setting, friendly pockets of service and convenient takeout options, but experiences vary: order mixups, uneven freshness and occasional unprofessional staff undermine reliability. With clearer kitchen consistency and stronger staff training this neighborhood favorite could easily solidify its strong reputation.

This restaurant has relocated to 2009 E Dublin Granville Road. I ordered jollof rice and chicken, but it was quite disappointing. The rice and chicken didn’t taste fresh at all, and I regretted spending $17.51 on it. In the past, when I ordered from Sermat, I was usually satisfied, but yesterday’s meal was far from acceptable. I sincerely hope that you can provide your customers with fresh and quality food in the future.

This restaurant is now called The Dish and is located on Dublin-Granville Road. I have been a regular customer here for over a year, and I absolutely adore their peanut butter soup. I highly recommend this place! The staff is very friendly, and the food is excellent.

The location moved 7 minutes away and it's not on Google. However, we traveled 2 hours for this food and it was great!!

As a person patrizing any establishment of any kind any where I was insulted with the unprofessionalism of the first employee taking my order than running to the back and not submitting h my order. Secondly, another employee comes and retakes my order to only get it completely wrong. The set up was very nice and was familiar to me so atmosphere wasn't bad until the employees displayed unprofessionalism acting a bit funny. The wait was not too long had my order been correct and fresh.I asked for pounded yam which is closer to white in color it was it was mixed with something .How did they not know I had no food allergies and I asked for my swallow to be pounded yam with my egusi soup with mixed meat.I also got extra dry week old looking fried chicken inwhich never has my egusi been prepared like that here in America or back homeland.Lets not forget my spinach or leaf soup that had none in it but plenty hard meat from maybe 2 days ago or more. Those plantains were so dry ofcoarse pics are on this review.I always do review good or bad so that is why I started taking pics in the beginning never to regret coming in that awful placeIts just wrong to treat people so unwelcoming and they come to your place. If I could give a -100 o trust me I would. Not sure who the owner was but he needs new staff and cook. There was one short nice finegal with a pink glittery hat she needs to be training the others on their people skills and customer service.I did not pay my friend paid as he said he didn't want to look bad if any one any how any where will b an embarrassment it has to be the owner .Yes I am west African ?? to be exact and I think with the treatment alone I will never go in places like this very beneath me.Kid-friendliness: Attitudes not nice so not kid friendly if attitude is betterDietary restrictions: They mixed certain things they should not so be careful of u have allergies
