I just moved here to be with family. We are from NJ. We wanted some soul food so my sister recommended this place. And let me say she didn't steer me wrong. The ladies at the counter were very nice. And the food is on point. When you come from a family that can cook and you don't have time or just don't feel like cooking after a 13hr drive. This is the place to go. What Layne Hudson doesn't like about Ed's Country Cooking Bbq:
I used to LOVE coming here all the time. Me and my dad would always stop by and he’d see the owner (chubby i think was his nickname) and they’d been friends so it was always a friendly welcome from everyone in there. Now? I hate to say this but the past TWO times I’ve walked in there has been the worst experience ever. Yesterday just showed me that i don’t need to come back. I visited this restaurant on a Sunday afternoon, and while there were a lot of people coming in and out, the line went rather quickly. A friend who likes the stuffing/dressing suggested I visit this place. The service was average, but the staff was patient. I ordered the fried chicken (white meat), mac cheese, collard greens, and yams. While the fried chicken was well-seasoned and cooked well, the external skin was slightly mushy, but this did not detract from the overall flavor. However, the sides were disappointing. The mac and cheese was cheesy but tasteless, the collard greens were flavorless, and the yams were as watery as they appeared. The complimentary cornbread was medoicore.
Customer service was bad ! The young light skinned girl with the glass was rude with a terrible attitude when asking her a question about the food! She needs to be the one cleaning the toilets instead of talking to customers
Myself and my family went to this restaurant for dinner . The service was fast and the staff was very friendly. Our meal was great quality ingredients. The best soul food I have ever tasted. I am from Detroit we lack true soul food. 10/10 I would recommend Ed's Southern Kitchen.
Great southern cooked meal is what you will find here. Easy buffet style service.

Babyyyyyyyy in NJ it would have broke the bank lol I will be back for my veggie plate.
