Had a date here last night. I made a reservation and we were seated promptly at arrival. We ordered the strip steak and the salmon and both were absolutely delicious. Prices were a little high but not bad considering the quality of food. Service was excellent and professional. Would recommend to anyone for a lovely meal. View all feedback.
The KC Strip Steak was to die for, it completely melted in my mouth. And I do not like fresh green beans but theirs were prepared amazingly! If I could afford it, I'd eat there all the time!
Fifty some years ago my family stopped at Glenn’s Cafe for the strawberry shortcake on the way to grandmas house in Arkansas. We’re in town for our grandson’s birthday and I had to check it out. Great location in The tiger hotel, friendly service and glad I tried the recommendation of a “Dirty Money”. The crab cakes and fried chicken are delicious.
First time in the latest greatest reincarnation of Glenn's Cafe. Noticed the Chicken Fried Chicken and had to try it. Mashed potatoes and asparagus for sides. Stepping back, the waiter was exceptionally well versed and presented himself and the specials very well. Back to the food exceeded my expectations! Overall, I'll be back and I do recommend Glenn's Cafe.
Dr. Death Does Dinner. I have found Glenn’s, in its’ various incarnations, to be both interesting and tasty<br/ since my first encounter in 1984. For no<br/ discernable reason, I have apparently been pointlessly delaying review of the<br/ current version (29 S. 8th St. . The staff, and in particular the servers, are consistently both excellent and unobtrusive.<br/ Glenn’s is one of very few places where the Doctor begins with a cocktail rather than<br/ beer or wine. This is because the house<br/ specialty drinks are “both interesting and tasty.” Recently I have favored the pear basil<br/ martini; pear vodka garnished with a fresh basil leaf, and redolent of unexpected<br/ peppery notes. Have several! Each of the drinks on the list is both<br/ unusual and worth a try. Among the list of starters, the quinoa black bean fritters are<br/ outstanding! Tasty enough to eat by themselves, they are nevertheless served with an excellent slightly spicy dipping<br/ sauce.<br/ <br/ <br/ While not quite reaching the touch-stone level of the legendary “house salad” at<br/ Cunetto’s House of Pasta on the hill in STL, the salads at Glenn’s are<br/ nevertheless both large and excellent. I<br/ have recently favored the Bleu Cheese Salad which is served with enough bleu<br/ goat cheese, along with toasted pecans, and is dressed with a balsamic<br/ reduction. On this particular visit my<br/ partner had the seasonal berry salad, which appeared to be the same mixed field<br/ greens plus blueberries and red raspberries, and which was judged to be<br/ “excellent.”<br/ <br/ <br/ <br/ <br/ For the last several visits I have had the fried gulf oysters as an entrée, and they<br/ are large, tasty, and not over-breaded. <br/ My partner had the daily special, which was blackened prime rib, and<br/ which was rated as, “wonderful!” The<br/ list of entrée-accompanying side-dishes seems a bit limited (Why is there no<br/ coleslaw? . Both of us had the fresh<br/ asparagus, which was very good, and I additionally had the shockingly toothsome<br/ fried okra.<br/ <br/ <br/ <br/ <br/ Despite being too full for dessert, we felt obligated to share the bread pudding with whiskey<br/ sauce. And, “Chantilly cream!” Which is simply Creole/French for whipped<br/ cream. L It was, as always, excellent despite being<br/ much too heavy for a dessert.<br/ <br/ <br/ Considering how unrealistically high the Doctor’s standards are, there must surely be<br/ something besides the lack of coleslaw to complain about? Well……there are almost always too many<br/ diners, and considering the complete lack of anything sound-deadening it can<br/ sometimes be a bit loud. Perhaps the “new”<br/ outdoor sidewalk-seating area is the answer to this “problem?” <br/ <br/ <br/ A<br/ consistent Columbia fave; 4.8/5. <br/
Brunch was fantastic! Our server couldn't be better and the food was amazing! We will be back
