What Maureen Bernhard doesn't like about An Loi:
I usually love this place for the pho, but my recent experience was disappointing. My son and I ordered spring rolls, shrimp, and a few other dishes. The spring rolls were burnt, and we had to peel off the outer layer. The shrimp tasted like propane, which was unpleasant. The rice was decent but bland. The N10 Shrimp Lo Mein was quite good and really fresh. The shrimp were of high quality, but they could have used a bit more flavor. My A1 Spring Rolls (2) were burnt, so I think I'll opt for the vegetarian option next time. Overall, it was the best meal I've had in a long time!
I had the Bahn Mi with chicken, and it was extremely spicy and a bit oily. However, the roll and the vegetables in the sandwich were fresh and crunchy. The Pho Kim Chi soup was quite large, filled with plenty of fresh vegetables and meat.
The food was served hot and fresh, and my iced coffee was cold with no ice melted. Everything was absolutely delicious and matched the descriptions perfectly. It was the best iced coffee I've ever had – strong yet sweet!
I am so glad I decided to give this place a try. The food is delicious and well packaged. The portion sizes are great and Im sure Ill have plenty leftover for tomorrow.
This place is always solid. Ive been eating here for 15 years and never had a bad experience. Best vegetarian summer rolls Ive ever had in my life, and the pho is amazing.
