In a Courtepaille one does not expect upper-notch gastronomy. But what you do get is excellent, friendly and attentive service, excellent meat cooked to one's wishes and good wine (not plonk) to go with it. The place is family-minded and hence not a quiet romantic venue, but definitely a place where we like to stop for a good bite on the way down to Italy. View all feedback.
What ESH15 doesn't like about Courte Paille:
The Short Straw is a literal translation of Le Court Paille and that is what we drew! The menu is what you might expect from a chain restaurant but unlike most places in France there was no flexibility at all in the menu. My wife wanted a salad with chicken breast instead of what was on offer but, despite chicken breast being available with another dish it could not be offered. During the wine-expo thousans are flooding Colmar and all Restaurants full. We went to Campanile to eat some Steaks. All Steaks sold out... The man in charge tried all he could but no Steaks available. He was very professional and explained the problem... After all the desert was nice and gave us a Reduktion and the promisse he would cook the Steaks next time for us... This guy deserve 5 Stars...
It 's a chain, for better or for worse. The service is good, food was very nice, and price-wise it was fine. It reminded me of another chain I like, the Hippopotame withe similar foods and formule menus. Good spot for decent food.

My wife wanted a salad with chicken breast instead of what was on offer but, despite chicken breast being available with another dish it could not be offered. Whether because we had asked for something different, service was poor and they failed to offer us bread which was offered to all other tables. All in all it did not make us wish to return!

Food here is good but service is a bit confusing. As I starter they offer bread, salami and pickles. Great when one arrives to the restaurant totally hungry! By the way, they are delicious! Also food is good. Kid´s menu options are OK, but little food.
