Crazy good Bar-B-Que! Red Barn is sweet little local jewel. They serve brisket and ribs that come in reasonably sized portions and there are other meats on the menu but mainly it's a ribs and brisket place. Every plate has 2-3 sides that are the pretty normal barbecue resturaunt sides. Plates aren't expensive but the price doesn't affect the taste! What Terry Mabry doesn't like about Red N -b-que:
Pretty decent BBQ! First time visit and good selection of various smoked fowl, beef, pork and side dishes. Tasty! If you're like me and like a brewsky with dinner, you're out of luck here, BUT, you are allowed to bring your own drinks in! ???????? Enjoyed, and will go back. View all feedback.
Red Barn served some of the best queen I had for a long time. I choose wet cut brisket with Slav and beans on the side. Good choice.
The barbecue here is deliciously simple, and the staff is fantastic! The atmosphere is beautiful and inviting. When I think of a barbecue place, this is the one that comes to mind. The "red barn" setting is casual and welcoming, though you might need to navigate through some crazy traffic and construction to get there. But it's definitely worth the hassle. This Texas-style barbecue spot greets you with the enticing aroma of smoke as soon as you walk in. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, quickly picking up on your vibe. If you engage with them well, they'll treat you like family. A sense of humor is essential, but the warm welcome makes it all worthwhile. The food is excellent. While others may have had complaints about certain dishes, I personally haven't encountered anything unappetizing. The gentleman at the counter had great recommendations, and I decided to try the jalapeño sausage sandwich. It came with standard toppings like white onions and house sauce, and it was absolutely delicious! We also ordered fried okra, which is a must-have in any barbecue restaurant, and it did not disappoint. The texture was perfect—neither overcooked nor undercooked, with a light, crispy batter that wasn’t greasy. I look forward to visiting again, hopefully when the construction on the nearby road is finished. Great job all around!
Instead, we stumbled upon Red Barn BBQ on Highway 26 at Glade Road, and we have consistently enjoyed great BBQ there. We've met the owner, Van Husbands, on several occasions, and he clearly knows his craft and is very friendly. The young staff behind the counter are usually cheerful and eager to assist. The BBQ itself is moist and smoky, with an excellent rub. I particularly love the sweet sauce (I always ask for extra) and the sides are also tasty, with the broccoli salad and slightly spicy green beans being my favorites. If you prefer a little heat, there's also a good spicy sauce available. There have been a few letdowns—during our last visit, they ran out of sliced brisket, yet they still managed to make four chopped beef sandwiches. I felt bad for the customers behind us. And the iced tea? We had to toss it; it was just terrible, so we opted for soft drinks instead—perhaps it’s the water! I heard from another review that it's BYOB, which would make for a great pairing with the BBQ. The location might be a bit out of the way for some, as Highway 26 through Colleyville isn't a main route, but it works well for us. If you're in the area and hungry, definitely check this place out. Van Husbands also has a larger Red Barn location in North Richland Hills, complete with outdoor seating and live music on certain nights. We’ve tried it, but we prefer the Colleyville spot for the food and overall experience. There's a sign out front advertising an "All You Can Eat" special on Mondays. I'm not sure why we haven't tried this yet, but I promise… we will!
The meat was very tender: the brisket was well-marinated, and the ribs came off the bone effortlessly. I tried the Jalapeno Cheddar Sausage, which was decent but a bit too bold for my taste. The chicken was slightly dry, but still quite flavorful. The sides were mostly standard (pinto beans, green beans, potato salad), but I particularly enjoyed the broccoli salad. One downside for several of us was the lack of smokiness in the meat. While it was tender and flavorful, it didn’t quite have that distinct smokey flavor you’d expect from a BBQ place, although the smokey aroma was definitely present. The prices felt a bit high, but we're in Colleyville. A three-meat plate (excluding drinks) runs about $15. Overall, we give Red Barn BBQ a thumbs up, but our search for the best BBQ continues!
