Paolo's Italian Cuisine in College Station was exactly what I was looking for in terms of Italian dining. I ordered the salmon piccata, and it was fantastic. Since Paolo was quite busy that night, I made sure to call ahead for reservations. We started with the steak and arugula flatbread as appetizers, followed by truffles for dessert. The restaurant had an unusual layout that made me wonder if it was once connected... View all feedback.
Birthday contract for the woman brought daughter and son into law. First and foremost, the service was five stars. Our waiter Dave and his support team were excellent. Tried three appetizers flat bread, meatballs, Calamari. Two of three were great. Calamari was disappointing. The entrances were the perfect size and served cakes hot. Drinks and desserts were top notch. Prices very reasonable. This place is certainly a redo.
The food presentation was great 5/5 the food was good 4/5 the service was fantastic 5/5 the dessert was excellent. It was really a shame to destroy such art work.
I moved here 3 yrs ago, and always wanted to try paolos. Now that there doors are closing, I figured I 'd better do it soon. I was pleasantly surprised. Being from ny I 've found it hard to find real Italian food here. This qualifies! Everything was real good, prepared fresh, authentic real ingredients. The sauce was a little salty, but other than real good food. Sorry to see them go. The flavored butter for the bread was probably my favorite part.
My wife an I had this for lunch for the first time. I had the Shrimp fra Diavolo and my wife had the Chicken Alfredo. We both loved our choices, plenty of flavor and good portion sizes for $10-$15 plates. Our waiter was very friendly and brought out 3 baskets of bread. The butter/cheese that comes with the bread is hella good. We will be back for a date night!
I tried this place finally. Once for lunch a couple weeks ago and tonight for dinner. Over all it's pretty good although not anything too special. Service is pretty good in comparison to other places in town. It's got an interesting dark interior with a feel of where the Italian mob would hang out which I guess suits an Italian restaurant. So about the food. I like that they offer gluten free pasta although they should have that as an option for the bread too. The bread is alright, basic but served with a nice sun dried tomato butter. The marinara/tomato sauce taste like it is right out of a can with no seasonings added. However the chicken parmesan was a hearty, hot and tasty serving. The marsala not really a marsala. The Bolognese a classic style but lacking that flavor to make it really yummy. The tiramisu was pretty good but the cream part was too flat. The prices are pretty in line with all other pasta places that for some reason charge too much for pasta and sauce so it's not too expensive but certainly not inexpensive. Overall it's good, not great but an alright place to try and go every now and then, not regularly. Response to owners response: I'm still not clear how the Marsala issue would be because of a Sicilian style. Marsala is a Sicilian wine which is the base to the chicken marsala dish, so I sure would hope that a Sicilian style would be used to make the dish. However, Marsala wine is typically a gold or amber color so no reason why the sauce was tomato-y. I highly doubt a fine Ruby Marsala wine is used and it tasted and looked quite a bit like tomato. As for the marinara on the chicken parmesan it sure did taste like can but I suppose it could be made in house somehow. Yet there may be confusion on what that means because when I was going to order the server said that the pasta was made in house but after further talking we found out that meant the pasta was boiled in house, big difference from actually being made. Lastly, glad to know there is gluten free bread. Perhaps the servers should know to offer that to a person ordering a gluten free pasta dish. Thanks.
