Kamei Sushi Grill is fantastic! Located in the shopping center just around the corner from H-E-B, this little gem is a true treasure. The chef runs a tight ship, serving fish of a higher quality than I've experienced in larger, more expensive establishments. She creates exquisite dishes and is the sole person behind the sushi bar. The food that comes out of their kitchen is equally impressive. If you're looking for a... View all feedback.

The steamed rice was like concrete. I ordered the Karaage bento box, and this was the first time I had Karaage made with white meat. Typically, it's made with thighs for added flavor, but not at this restaurant. The dinner portion of the poke bowl was only slightly bigger than the lunch portion, just with more sides. I was left feeling dissatisfied. The server wasn't very friendly and didn't refill my drink. Although... View all feedback.
Ordered the following to go: chicken fried rice, fried calamari, caterpillar roll, California roll, sushi appetizer. Was a little over 50$ and was extremely disappointed. I think many of the high ratings come from people who haven't really been outside the Brazos Valley Bubble or haven't gone to other places. The fried calamari was extremely bland, it didn't even taste like it had salt. The portion was really small. For about 10$, I expected more than exactly 10 pieces. It appears that they probably count exactly how many pieces each order gets, which means it's 1$/piece, which is insane considering it was so under flavored. They are definitely penny pinching. The fried rice was average. The menu: the menu is huge but most of the actual roles have the same ingredients over and over again or when they finally have a different ingredient, it's mixed with something like jalapeno. The variety is actually lacking for the quantity of sushi rolls they have. It's just most of the same ingredients over and over again with a different add on here and there. The sushi: the fish tasted old and fishy for most of the pieces (except the California roll, but it's hard to mess that one up). I get CStat is fairly inland, but I've tasted better sushi elsewhere (Naked Fish, etc are some places that come to mind). We should've just stopped inside HEB and gotten fried rice from the freezer isle and the sushi from HEBs Sushiya. It would've certainly been cheaper and it would've been the same quality.
I'm never disappointed by the quality of sushi and the friendly service.Food: 5/5
Crab puffs were delicious! Sushi rolls were a little small, so order more. Bento box was awesome as well! There was only 1 waitress but she did a fantastic job with all her tables. Will definitely go back!Food: 5/5
We went here for the first time. It was a late lunch, so it wasn't very busy. The service was great. We got shrimp and veggie tempura as an appetizer. It was good. I did find out that I am not a fan of eggplant tempura. The tempura sweet potato needed a little more cooking time. We got three rolls and a beef teriyaki bento box. One of the rolls was a Daniel roll, and it was really good. We really enjoyed everything, and are looking forward to our next visit. They do need to change their music. The elevator music was hard to sit through for a whole meal.
Awesome food, affordable price, but don 't dare order takeout without checking your bags. Literally every time we 've ordered there, we 've found something missing in the bag. They are always willing to make it for you after you tell them, but that 's kind of besides the point.
