I love me some Coopers. I was tired and the young man on the bbq was great. You place meat orders at the pit for those not familiar. Then another person helps you with your sides etc. I think the young man's name might have been Justin but he was Great. Tall and his annunciation was great. Everyone was smiles. I have eaten in Llano, New Braunfels, the short lived Katy location and the employees here are pretty great!... View all feedback.
What Bella Rose (LE) doesn't like about Cooper's Old Time Pit -b-que:
Meat was so over salted I could not eat it. The potato salad tasted like cold mashed potatoes. Not good at all. The Pinto Beans were mostly ‘juice.’ Spicy, so if you don’t like jalapeños, you won’t like them. The ‘free bread’ is just plain white or wheat bread from grocery store. I hoped for better. The guy working the line was ‘enthusiastic,’ but I’m not quite sure why. View all feedback.
I had heard about Coopers for a few years but had never been there. One day, I was on a bus trip near College Station and stopped in with the group for lunch. I made the mistake of ordering the beef ribs. The price was 13.99 for a half pound and came with pinto beans included as well as barbecue sauce, bread, pickles and onions. I ordered the half pound and the guy cut it and then weighed it. Now the price came to 15.50 since I guess my ribs were slightly more than a half pound. I started eating and the first 7 bits were pretty decent…and then tons of fat. I can’t believe I spent 15.50 for 7 bites of meat! I have never had such a disappointing experience at a barbecue place. Thankfully, my husband had ordered some green beans to go with his meal and gave me half so I wouldn’t go hungry. My husband got brisket and said it was average. I don’t plan to go back to this place.
I went with my little brother and the food was way too high for the quality. My ribs was so salty. Mac and cheese was disguising, and the bbq sauce tasted old and like pure vinegar. I spent $56 on our food. Then the guy who was helping with our food was not wearing gloves when touching the bread after he touched everything in his area. I will never eat here again. And it was a waste of $56. I suggest you not eat here. Their food is horrible and way over priced. Very unsanitary the way they handle food.
Great brisket and sausage! My son got a half slab of ribs and while he said they were tasty, he did say they were a bit over seasoned. Overall very good food and excellent service from start to finish!Kid-friendliness: Nice ol style atmosphere for kids to enjoy.
Don’t be misled by the ranking (currently #42). This is the BEST bbq in town. I have eaten at all the rest, including C&J, Rudy’s, etc. Also, this is a more upscale place. It is relatively new and clean. They have a GREAT bar with a lot of tvs. Aiden is a great bartender. Troy is so friendly. The owners are awesome people who make you feel at home. I enjoy Saturdays with my wife at the bar watching ball games. All the meats are great. The sides are generally good, too. The cole slaw, potato salad and green beans are not exceptional but adequate. Everyone’s taste in these seems to vary. The best sides are the twice baked potatoes and the jalapeno mac n cheese. These should please anyone.
Our favorite BBQ in Aggieland! The brisket is top notch and you must get it baptized!! The jalapeño Mac n cheese is the bomb! This is a fantastic spot for large groups and great play area for the littles on the patio! Just an all around great experience!
