Local french black truffles, amazing local pinot, warm and astonishingly beautiful building from one of Australia's best architects. How do you beat that?Great knowledgable service, friendly, and helpful. The constantly award winning Lerida Estate wines served with a house made black truffle, free range chicken and portobello mushroom pie. Simple yet well balanced desserts with hints of truffle, Sticky fig and truffle... View all feedback.
What Giorgio Riva doesn't like about Cafe Lerida at Lerida Estate:
Lucky we had time on our side! It seemed to take ages for our food to come. We were happy to sit but noticed others struggling with the wait and even leaving early. Excuses included a small kitchen but on a mid week day it...was hardly busy. The food was good when it arrived. For the price probably not that good but acceptable. We enjoyed the wines. YMMV View all feedback.
We went here with friends to celebrate a birthday. We were using a Living Social deal which was good value. My main of baked eggplant, bread and salad was nice. Dessert was a bit hit and miss - my apple blueberry crumble was cold and too sweet. I wouldn't say the venue was cozy either. It was an okay meal but I wouldn't drive from Canberra to eat there again.
Went there as it was a gift from my family for birthday, wife and I had the Cheese platter and charcuterie board both were lovely, with matching wines. Then had desert of crumble and Sticky toffee pudding and Coffee. All in all lovely 40 min drive from Canberra and nice views over Lake George
We stopped in for a wine tasting on our way from Canberra to Goulburn. The staff are very friendly and the location has some nice views. The wine is not too bad. We were allowed to go on a self guided tour of the winery.
While the cafe is designed around the cellar area, it is a very friendly place for a good meal. They are not heavy meals, but very tasty. Panoramic views over the vines to the Lake George region.Whether an easy trip from Goulburn or Canberra, or a break while touring, this is a lovely friendly place to stop.
As a party of 4 we met at Lerida Estate cafe to celebrate a birthday. I had read the previous reviews and I was excited. Other reviews had mentioned Thai beef noodles, quiche, chicken pies, Moroccan Tagine. But I lucked out today as none of those were on the menu which was heavily weighted to pork and pickled vegetables such as cornicorns, onions, onion marmalade. The only chicken on the menu was in the form of a terrine. So if you are not a fan of processed animal products and pickled vegetables then the menu is very limited and disappointing.I was disappointed about the lack of fresh food options for lunch. It would have been great if they offered a fresh chicken or seafood option and not just cold processed meats, cheeses and terrines with cold pickled vegetables. Gee a fresh chicken and salad sandwich would have gone down a treat. I ordered the Mediterranean stuffed baked eggplant. Unfortunately the eggplant was hard and inedible so I just the ate the topping. The sourdough bread was delicious. On the other hand my friends all love cold meats, cheeses and terrines. So they were very happy with the ploughman lunch, chicken terrine and duck and pork rillette. I gave this establishment three stars because my friends enjoyed their lunch and wine. But I marked them down because I personally did not enjoy the experience.I am a great lover of desserts but when I looked at the dessert cabinet all of the desserts looked like they were not fresh and were mass produced. I think that going to a family run winery that it would better to offer three home cooked options which may include a chocolate, fruit or citrus option and ice cream. I spoke with the staff about my half eaten meal and they graciously offered to provide me with another meal. I declined as there were no other options on the menu that I could order. The staff member apologised and reported that they were short staffed and the meals on the menu were easy to throw together. This was both obvious and disappointing that we chose to drive out from Canberra for a special lunch and I went home hungry. I am sure that if I had visited during winter that I would have enjoyed the pies and Tagline options. The staff were courteous and helpful. The location was lovely, perched high up on the hill next to Lake George. We had a lovely view view from our table on a gorgeous sunny day.If you are driving between Goulburn and Canberra and like processed meats and pickled vegies then Lerrida Estate would be good spot to stop for a break.Personally I won't be going back unless they change their menu to properly cooked meals with options for those who don't eat red meat.
