Crabbie's
Description
Crabbie’s offers a mixed dining experience with standout moments and notable pitfalls. Several guests praised the warm, family-like atmosphere, friendly staff, and delicious seafood favorites like crab cakes, fried shrimp, and perfectly cooked asparagus. The stunning waterfront view and kid-friendly environment add appeal. However, some visits were marred by cleanliness issues, including dirty silverware and beverages infested with ants, alongside disappointing dishes like canned-tasting soup and wilted salads. While many plan to return for the great service and food, others remain hesitant due to inconsistent quality. Overall, Crabbie’s charm shines but could benefit from improved hygiene and kitchen standards.

We enjoyed a fantastic meal here on a whim while passing through, with no expectations. The owner and wait staff were incredible, treating us like family, and the food was delightful. They even had activities for our five-year-old son. This place is truly a gem!
The ownership of Crabbies has changed, and sadly, the only redeeming quality of the place is the breathtaking view of the sound. My husband ordered the crab soup, and it was disappointing—tasted like it was straight out of a can. I chose the Caesar salad, but it came out brown and wilted. The fried oysters on the side were mostly breading and had an unpleasant taste; I could only manage to eat one. We decided to share a slice of Snickers cheesecake, and you would think it would be hard to ruin cheesecake, but somehow they made it completely flavorless. To make matters worse, we overheard the waitress say that her dad is the new owner and that he used to run Golden Corral in Elizabeth City! Yikes! I almost lost my lunch when I heard that.
We had an amazing experience at Crabbie's! The soup and crab cakes were outstanding! The staff were incredibly friendly, and we can't wait to visit again next year on our way to the Outer Banks! Thank you!
The service was decent, but the food was just okay. My first issue was that I received a dirty fork, and then the iced tea tasted as if it had been brewed in a dirty pot—definitely needs a good cleaning. The final straw was when I finished my drink and noticed ants crawling up the straw, which made me feel nauseous. Although the waitress did comp our meal, she suggested that if we came back, she would take care of us. Seriously? There's no way I'm returning. It wasn't just one ant; there were many in both glasses.
If I could give a rating lower than one star, I definitely would. The silverware was dirty, and the iced tea pitcher hadn’t been cleaned in ages. The tea had a musty flavor, so I decided to switch to Coke, which turned out to be an even bigger mistake. To my horror, after finishing my drink, I discovered ants crawling up my straw in the ice. That was the final straw for me—I ended up throwing up everywhere. The waitress did compensate us for our meal, but then she had the audacity to say, "Next time, I will take better care of you." Ha! Just to be clear, there will never be a next time.
