we have eaten well as usual but bad surprise to the addition, changing vegetables for the dishes, everything was counted on the menu without being warned. disappointed View all feedback.

This restaurant is in a delightful setting and it was warm enough to sit at an outside table. We decided to choose meals from the specials board and came to regret that decision. For entree we chose king prawns and for the plat we chose Entrecote de boeuf. If you serve king prawns still in their shells the only way to eat them is to pick them up, peel and then eat them by hand. There should, therefore, have been provided finger bowls or something to clean off ones fingers afterwards but nothing was provided. We had to make do using the napkins. The entrecote steaks were laid on the plates like great unattractive slabs of meat accompanied by soggy saute potatoes. It proved impossible to cut the steaks with the knives provided so we asked for sharper knives. Different knives were provided but it was still hard to cut the meat with them. Proper steak knives should have been provided from the outset. Alternatively the steak could have been sliced prior to being served. The steak meal would have been improved had it been served with fries, cooked mushrooms and tomatoes. If we come back to Cognac for a holiday we will come back but will not be tempted with a specials board which in this case was certainly not value for money.

We happened upon the restaurant by chance and so pleased we did. What a lovely place. Great atmosphere. It was raining and yet the outside tables were comfortable and accommodating. The staff were lovely and helpful speaking some English where we couldn’t quite rise to the French. Superb menu. We all had amazing dishes. Even the two year old in our group had a wonderful meal. Amazing dessert! Thank you to all the staff and chef. We will try to return before too long.
