Elephant Head Lodge - Cody

No, thank you. Perhaps it was late in the season or maybe the resort's age, but everything seemed outdated and worn out. It felt convenient to leave. I was disappointed that the restaurant was closed since it was a major reason for choosing this place. It's located near the East Gate of Yellowstone. My suggestion would be to stay in Cody instead.

Ms. Billion, if I’ve spelled her name right, is an incredible owner! She is straightforward, which I appreciate. She offers a wealth of information about the local area and is helpful when you’re exploring or out in the evening. The cabins are rustic, warm, comfortable, and cozy. We returned late from our Yellowstone trip, and she had already turned on the lights and heating for us. It was such a welcoming touch! There are no electronics or cell phone service, which means no distractions at all. I came across a few reviews that listed some complaints, but if people took a moment to consider how far they need to drive to obtain food, propane, toiletries, etc., those complaints could easily be avoided. I was truly delighted to find the comforts of home in such a remote location. I’m looking forward to my return trip next year and will definitely stay here again! Elephant Head Lodge is situated just a few kilometers from the east entrance of Yellowstone in Shoshone National Forest, which is truly breathtaking. I'm so thankful we chose this location, as we spent an entire day enjoying the beautiful surroundings around the lodge. The owner was incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to answer all our questions, even helping us find a horseback riding experience we wanted in the morning. Just a few miles away, Shoshone Lodge offered an amazing, hearty, home-cooked breakfast, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Unfortunately, the Elephant Head Lodge restaurant was temporarily closed due to the pandemic. The drive to the east entrance was also a delight, and we made several trips while using Elephant Head Lodge as our base. We even spotted bears near the east entrance, and Yellowstone Lake is close by as well. Overall, we had a magnificent stay at a wonderful place. Thank you!

We had the pleasure of staying in the Elephant Lodge the week before the commemorative day. We didn't want to go home and we can't expect to return next year. Debbie is a very caring owner. Debbie called us the day before our arrival and gave us tips on where to eat since we plan a late arrival. A snowstorm delayed our arrival in the late night. Debbie and her girls could no longer have been accommodating that we checked in the morning and checked in the morning while we sat on our deck and saw coffee drink like two male bison pastures. Debbie has a lot of local knowledge to share where you explore outside Yellowstone and eat when that is what you are looking for. One day we drove past to see the wild Mustangs in the Pryor Mountains, which is a nice ride and is completely different from Yellowstone. Oh and the pictures online of the cabins do not do the cabins enough justice. As others have said, if you want a beautiful / quiet retreat, you have found your place. If you want a 5-star experience, you would be better suited elsewhere:

We stayed 3 nights, beautiful area. Debbie is very friendly and full of useful information. I appreciated her hospitality! Our cabin was so fun, rustic and modern. There is no cell service or t.v. in the cabin...I was thrilled! That afforded our family a much needed break from that tech stuff and we just enjoyed hanging out. These cabins are about an hour from Cody and just outside the East entrance to Yellowstone. We would stay again.
