Bar Celona - Coburg

We stopped over in Coburg on our way from Bavaria to Hamburg. We stayed in the centre of the city that had a weird Mexican restaurant so we strolled around for a restaurant. We went out to eat about 8:30. We found Bar Celona. It was very busy and we had our baby in her pram sleeping. They let us sit in the quietest corner and we ordered from the tapas happy hour menu. The food was excellent!! The owner greeted us and made sure we had a waiter who conversed in English with us. They had a lovely wine selection as well. The meal was also excellent value as it was 9 euros for three tapas dishes. There were so many to choose from but we were full off of three each. The restaurant had tons of people and it looked like one of the best spots to be on a Wednesday night.

Food is ok but service is terible. Our Reservation was erased, no explanation, with no excuse. Just a terible experience to go there and to find out that everything they said yesterday had no value today.

This place was suggested by the hotel and seems to get very busy. We arrived early which was just as well as all the tables were reserved from 8pm. The food we had was nice enough but it wasn't like any Spanish restaurant I've been to before. There was a lot of emphasis placed on the Angus Steaks, far less on the Paella! We had 3 courses, wine and coffee for 78 Euro's. Probably not extortionate but more than I thought it was worth.

Essen war super Lecker. Die Bedienungen waren freundlich und aufmerksam. Sehr gemütliches aber schickes Restaurant.

Wir waren zu zweit in der Bar Celona und wurde wie immer nicht enttäuscht:die Tapas sind weiterhin die Besten Coburgs (vor allem z.B. Datteln im Speckmantel, Albondigas al Tomate, ...). Der Service war bei unserem Besuch recht flott und sehr freundlich. Das Ambiente kommt in warmen, gemütlichen Farben daher, sodass man gut und gerne mehrere Stunden dort verbringen kann. Die Leder-Stühle und -Bänke tun dabei ihr Übriges. Oft ist die Geräuschkulisse etwas laut - typisch spanisch eben. Alles in allem eine sehr gute Empfehlung für einen netten und leckeren Abend.
