What Mymin doesn't like about Captain George Fish & Chips:
Tuesday lunch, the restaurant looks dirty and old, that’s why i chose to takeout, one piece haddock with chips, very oily, the oil smells aged, the fries was soggy, the takeout package was horrible, not only the box was oiled through right away, the paper bag was broken too, oil leaked all the way to the car seat. No lemon no condiments packed in the the bag either, bad experience View all feedback.
Had takeout halibut chips, fish coating was under cooked and oil takes very old. Would not recommend, sorry!
Once in a while I like to treat myself out for a meal. When I asked about meals in a budget price for fish chips I was offered only the “single” of haddock for about 9$. No re-confirmation of the fish pricing when I asked about 9$ for fish alone. I settled on a single order of fries. Outside on the wall was a poster for a burger for 6$. Go figure. Cashier was curt to say the least. Will I ever be back? Who knows. Apparently the Port Hope location has new “owners”. Perhaps they have a “budget meal offer”.
If you like to eat a brick of dirty oil and feel sick the rest of the day this is the place for you. Service was ok but the food was awful
The fish was very good. Not too much batter and nicely crisp on the internal surface as well as the outside. The fish was moist and tasty and not overcooked. Certainly much better than the so called 'Reader 's Choice ' Big Mouth Fish and Chips just down the street. The fries were a disappointment. They were pallid and tasteless, hence the average rating. Still looking for a good Fish and Chip place between Toronto and Kingston.
This is the best fish restaurant i have ever eaten at and yjet have great desserts and all u can eat days
