What The Unhinged B dislikes about Souter's Variety Gift Shop:
I'm sorry, but I cannot recommend this place. I paid $3.85 for a small cup of ice cream (including tax), and it only had about five spoonfuls. Kawartha Dairy in Lindsay is the best, and Bobcaygeon comes in a close second! View all feedback.
Super friendly staff and reasonably priced ice which is always full. The attached ice cream shop is a busy spot. Not outrageous prices either.
Great little convenience store in Coboconk perfect spot for an ice cream cone during the summer!
Cute and busy little shop during summer cottage season. This place is split into two sides or stores but are technically the same place. To the left is the variety shop/vintage look signs that are all the rage and to the RIGHT is the take out only ice cream shop. Biggest CON: There's no washrooms for paying customers and only two bus stop looking benches to sit at or in the front steps in front of the shop. Strange, as melting ice cream hands need a wet wipe or a sink yet they direct customers across the street to the laundromat. Variety store isles are tight with lots of things to knock off shelves with your purse so be careful. Like: Ice cream shop: all Kawartha Dairy Flavours, and there's a lot to pick from, two take out windows that serve and pay, so a bit slow but they really fill the cone full even in a single scoop $2.45). Variety Store: They also sell small to large tubs of Kawartha dairy even though food land is down the street) Love love the signs for sale, decent prices compared to the city. From cottage to man cave there's something you'd want or to buy for someone as a gift. Also sell bags of ice out front, convenience items, magazines, cards, and candy boutique. I picked a sign from the leaning pile, it had a slight scratch but when I got to cash, she said they have more bubbled wrapped without me saying a word. So that was very helpful. read previous reviewer, yikes that's a horrible experience, today's shop keep was a mid aged lady and her daughter it seems, with two young girls running the ice cream parlour next door, all very sweet and friendly.
What a charming little place, and they offer Kawartha Dairy ice cream!
I cannot recommend the ice cream from this store. A small cup cost $3.85 (including tax) and only contained about five spoonfuls. Kawartha Dairy in Lindsay is the best ice cream, with Bobcaygeon coming in a close second!
