Sonic Drive-in - Clovis
Sonic Drive-in
Description
Sonic has long been favored for its unique drink offerings and classic fast-food menu, yet a particular location is marred by persistent issues. Customers frequently encounter inconsistency in service, from rude interactions to insufficient staffing, which notably affects food availability, including their signature ice cream. Complaints of cold food and neglected customer requests highlight an urgent need for better management and employee training. While some patrons appreciate select menu items, the overall experience is colored by frustration, leading many to seek alternatives. Without significant improvements, this Sonic risks losing its loyal customer base to better-managed competitors.

The Twisters were served with melted ice cream, and one was made incorrectly. I wasn’t given a drink carrier for the four drinks ordered, nor was I served any sauce for the cheese sticks. Additionally, spoons, straws, and napkins were not provided. The service was also unfriendly. This location has definitely declined from what it used to be. Please take pride in the quality of your products and service, as customers are spending their money here.
I'm somewhat addicted to the diet cherry limeade from Sonic Drive-In. Today, I stopped by the Clovis location and ordered a Route 44 diet cherry limeade. Unfortunately, it tasted off—like mold or the inside of a frequently used front-load washing machine, almost like pond water. The taste was unmistakable, but by the time I noticed it, I was already too far away to turn back. Someone should definitely inspect the drink lines and the ice maker to see what’s going on. Sonic’s menu usually offers great options, but this experience was disappointing.
I suppose I’ll never learn my lesson! I ordered a sweet tea, a Coke, and a Dr. Pepper, but the sweet tea was unsweetened and the Dr. Pepper was flat and lacking in flavor. I had to go back through the drive-thru to ask for new drinks. A man who identified himself as Pedro refused to remake them and denied my request for a refund. When I asked for my receipt to make a complaint, he ripped off the bottom before giving it to me, making it impossible to reach out for a resolution. This was truly the worst service I've ever encountered! I’ve attached a photo of the receipt and of the rude employee at the window for your awareness. Regardless of the time you visit or what you order, be prepared to wait at least 10 to 15 minutes in line. The service is incredibly slow, and the staff seems indifferent to their work. They respond with an aloof attitude when you ask for basic items like a straw or ketchup.
We ordered food from the park-and-eat area, but when it arrived, the fries and tater tots were cold. After pressing the red button for assistance and getting no response, we decided to go through the drive-thru to ask if they could reheat the food or give us fresh items. The woman we believed to be the manager was quite rude and informed us that they were busy, suggesting it would take a while to get new food, almost as if she wanted us to just leave. Having spent $60 on our meal, we were more than happy to wait. To make matters worse, she initially refused to give us the bathroom key for my son until another employee insisted that we could have it. Overall, it was a disappointing experience. I hadn’t been here in over a year, and now I regretted coming back.
Every time I go to this Sonic, I've encountered poor customer service. The ice cream machine is frequently out of order, and the staff often shouts at customers through the intercom. There always seems to be something that isn't working. During my visit this past weekend, I asked for a large drink just to get some crushed ice, as I was feeling nauseous. The employee completely refused to sell me a cup of ice. I've only continued to return because it's just a block away from my house, but I think it's finally time to stop visiting. The frustration isn't worth it anymore.
