559 Taqueria - Clovis
559 Taqueria
Description
Nestled in the heart of the city, this restaurant has ignited a mix of culinary excitement and frustration among diners. Many rave about the vibrant atmosphere and standout dishes like the shrimp tacos and queso birria tacos, praised for their flavor and generous portions. A refreshing variety of aguas frescas and ample sauces further enhance the dining experience. However, some customers report significant inconsistencies in food quality and service, including long waits and less-than-satisfactory orders. While it seems to have potential, improvements in customer service and consistency could elevate this spot from good to great.

The food was good, though it wasn't exactly what I anticipated, especially since I'm quite picky about my street tacos. My kids, on the other hand, really enjoyed it. The meat was a bit on the dry side, and the beans were served whole rather than refried. The rice was flavorful, and the sauces were nice as well. For $15, you get four tacos along with beans and rice, which I think is a reasonable price. The pineapple and strawberry drinks truly enhanced the experience, bumping my rating from three stars to four. They were quite sweet, but absolutely delicious.
The restaurant has a very aesthetic vibe, with great opportunities for taking pictures featuring neon lights and quotes. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. It would be better if they had the menu displayed in the aisles while guests are waiting in line. I appreciated that you can get your own sauce to accompany your meal. The food was good, though a bit bland; the sauce made a nice addition. I felt the tacos could have been a bit larger, as they appeared more substantial in the pictures but seemed more like an appetizer in person.
I apologize for not taking a picture of the quesadilla; it was so delicious that I devoured it before I had the chance! The tacos were also very good, but I did find them a bit greasy. Other than that, everything was fantastic. The staff was friendly and prompt, and although the prices are slightly higher than some other places, the quality of the food makes it well worth it. Be sure to add this restaurant to your must-try list!
I ordered the Tijuana Carnitas tacos, expecting them to be great based on all the flashy signs and boasting around the place. Unfortunately, my tacos arrived cold and tough, and I didn’t receive the hot sauce I was asked about when ordering. The carnitas were dry and rubbery, resembling flavorless beef jerky. It was truly disappointing and a waste of my hard-earned money.
Disgusting. Inedible. This is what you get when you order red tacos. Red tacos? Go to sanger and you will find amazing tacos with actual meat and flavor and fixings and consumme. This is what you get at 559 tacos. And if you try to send them back, youget massive attitude and horrible customer service. Do not eat here! There are so many actual good taco places in the valley.
