The ethnic takeout food here is absolutely delicious. The kebabs and stews are fantastic, and the ice cream flavors are truly unique. We particularly enjoyed the carrot and saffron flavors. Although it’s located in a nondescript strip mall, this place is a hidden gem! View all feedback.
What Zack G doesn't like about Green Leaf (ice-cream Take-out):
This is a window with a limited menu of Persian food a few unique flavors of ice cream. This review is for their ice cream. The guy here was really nice, but it was some of the worst ice cream I have had. There were only about 6 flavors, no cones, and the ice cream had HUGE chunks of ice all throughout it. I recently became aware of this food truck that has been serving Persian (Iranian) fare in this location for approximately one year and checked its Facebook page for the daily specials. On arriving, I was warmly greeted by one of the (2) employee/owners and placed my order for (2) portions of the daily special of ghormeh sabzi stew that my wife and I had for dinner that evening. The stew included sauteed parsley, coriander, red beans, fenugreek and beef. Each included a large portion of saffron rice and a choice of salad (shirazi) (cucumbers, red onions and tomatoes) or tzatziki. I chose the salad for both of us which was fresh tasting and delicious, but also asked for a side order of tzatziki sauce which was included without additional charge. We also received a cup of a vegetarian item which I have no idea of what it was, but we mixed it with some of the rice. Although everything was well made with fresh, high quality ingredients, we are unlikely to reorder this stew as it was just not to our liking. We will, however, return to try either one of their wraps for lunch or possibly kebabs for dinner. One last thought, prices are more than reasonable.
We grabbed some take out last night, not knowing anything about this place and were blown away. This food was AMAZING! My husband and I weren't super well versed in Persian food, but the ingredients sounded delicious and they absolutely were. We got the spinach plum stew which was incredible, would eat it every day and the gormeh sabzi stew so many cool flavors (though I'm not big on fenugreek, my husband loved it). Also added spinach borani, kashkeh bademja and kaleh kabob as sides were perfect. Don't forget to add rice to your order! This place is just so great i can't recommend it highly enough. We were so stuffed afterward that we barely had room for the orange blossom ice cream that we got with our order, but managed a few delicious spoons ful. Sooo good.
This place is AMAZING! Sam and his father do a great job providing the community with fresh options that are different and delicious. They also do a great job catering meetings for me at work! Plus! For catering they can accommodate Halal eaters!
It's difficult to find Persian food in CT. The Gorma Sabzi was a hit. Hope they stay in business.
