Within walking distance of university hospitals and CWRU campus. Very good service by knowledgeable and attentive wait staff. Food is quite good and decent wine list. Is also within walk of Severence Hall. I recommend highly and will visit again when in area. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Michaelangelo's:
We tried Michelangelo's on the recommendation of locals. Our take: pretentious white-tablecloth, been here forever place. The whole experience just felt stuffy. Overall the food was good. Large portions on pasta dishes, and I appreciated the option for 1/2 order of pasta. Lots of wine options both by the glass and by the bottle. If you're looking for creative Italian or old school casual red-sauce Italian, go somewhe... View all feedback.
Upon arriving at the restaurant, we encountered an older woman and a younger girl at the front desk who were not very friendly. Unfortunately, no one welcomed us to the establishment. Despite being half an hour early for our reservations and the place being empty, we were told our table wasn't ready. We asked if we could have a drink at the bar while we waited, but the younger girl said she would come get us. The bartender also seemed a bit indifferent, telling us we couldn't sit where we were and making us wait over 5 minutes at an empty bar before serving us drinks. To her credit, the bartender did become friendlier, but she never came back to check on us. Eventually, the rude young girl from the front desk returned and seated us. I was wearing a dress, yet she asked if I wanted a black napkin due to my pants, which could have been offered more politely. Despite this rocky start, we eventually had an alright time. The food was absolutely amazing, especially the filet we both ordered. However, the service fell short of our expectations for a restaurant of this caliber. The dining room was nice and clean but nothing extraordinary. If you're looking for great food, this place is worth a visit, but don't expect exceptional service.
Wonderful meal. We will definitely be back. The server was great...friendly and knowledgeable.
The food was good but we were never asked if we wanted more drinks.
It's hard to believe that I've lived in greater Cleveland my whole life and have passed Michaelangelo's on countless occasions, yet I had never paid them a visit until recently. Needless to say, I'm quite glad that I did! This fine establishment embodies the art of elegance and accentuates the standards for fine dining! The menu is varied of Northern Italian fare, which is abundant in quality choices that vary from minestrone to meat dishes, all of which are expertly prepared and taste decadent. The wine list is expansive in selection and offers reds and whites from every corner of the globe. Even more impressive is the fact that complimentary fresh baked bread is brought to the table with an olive oil tapenade. Lastly, for desert you can't leave without enjoying a tempting square of tiramisu it's heaven on a plate! While the prices here are a bit on the high end, the quality and ample portion sizes make it well-worth the money spent. At Michaelangelo's you truly do get what you pay for, and then some.
We love coming to Michaelangelo's we have come for years each time we visit Cleveland. Food, ambiance, service, all in our books. Missed Johnny this visit, hopefully we see him next time.
