Cafe Pascal is a rugby bar and as we were in town for a rugby match against the local team we naturally gravitated towards the bar.We came away with the observa... read more Cafe Pascal is a rugby bar and as we were in town for a rugby match against the local team we naturally gravitated towards the bar.We came away with the observation that,rather like the Clermont rugby team, it has a lot going for it but tends to fall in the later stages of the competition.There was a reasonable selection of beer but only just reasonable,a reasonable selection of food ( but not before 6pm on the day we were there ) but only just reasonable and staff who were perfectly perfunctory but who did not really make much more of an effort.Our steak and chips were okay but nothing to write home about which is why I'm writing about them here instead.Interestingly we noted that the visiting fans spent hundreds of euros a day without so much as a dry cracker or plain sandwich being proffered the other way across the bar in the way of thanks.Without the rugby being shown on their television I'm not sure we would have made much of an effort to stay.

The homemade fries were delicious, the staff were fantastic, smiling and friendly, and the welcome was very warm. There was no wait, the service was quick. I will definitely come back. Thank you so much for your hospitality.
