This is a bit of a special occasion restau... read more Came to eat here on the recommendation of my son who had a meal which he was extremely enthusiastic about in January. This is a bit of a special occasion restaurant (given the prices) but the quality is undeniable. Between us my wife and I ate extremely well with food which is imaginative, well sourced and impressively handled. The decor is striking without being over the top and the service is both extremely capable and lacking in over formality.

I have eaten in many restaurants in Clermont-Ferrand and in France over the past 10 years and this is by far the best restaurant I have visited. I liked the atmosphere and the lay-out of the restaurant as in contrast to other top quality restaurants we had plenty of space and could easily hear each other. I have a weakness for fois gras and it was absolutely fabulous. Each of us had different meals so we were able to taste 3 different entrees, main courses, desserts (and of course cheese). The food was extremely fine and by that I mean each dish opened up different taste buds and the combinations were refreshing and enticing. One has to eat slowly here as you will want to savor the surprising flavor combinations. Par for the course for a restaurant in the Auvergne, the cheese was exceptional and the dessert incredible. I highly recommend this restaurant! In contrast to some reviews, I found the prices appropriate and the price quality ratio exceptional.

We had the chance (because that's what we have to say) to have a gourmet meal, splendid and wonderfully succulent, perfect and tasty. Probably the best of all the gastronomic restaurants I've ever known, and I thank the person who made us discover and offer it. I thank the chef and give him all my sincere compliments for this wonderful meal, thank you for making us travel through your beautiful and delicious dishes, I have always had my mark. We had always asked what could differentiate a very good restaurant from a starred restaurant and whether it was deserved. For apicius, the answer is YES. Everything is really magical from A to Z! We let ourselves take the game of the accord of foods and wines and it was also perfect! The staff is very friendly and remains accessible despite the requested rigor of a starred restaurant. The plates are simply beautiful! I highly recommend!
