Atasca - Clermont
Atasca
Description
Atasca Westville serves lively Portuguese fare—standout prawns, calamari, hake and wings—paired with attentive service, generous portions and an upbeat atmosphere ideal for groups and celebrations. Vegetarians have decent choices, though vegans may struggle. Quality is generally high but occasionally inconsistent, with reports of dry or poorly presented dishes and rushed management. A mandatory service charge has frustrated some diners. Prices feel fair, parking is ample and waits are typically short, making it a dependable neighborhood spot for seafood and Portuguese classics when service and management run smoothly.

One of my favorite restaurants in Durban. The grilled hake, spinach and butternut is delicious; and the vegetarian options are plentiful. Service is always excellent, and we usually bring our own wine and pay a small corkage fee. Definitely a winner for a relaxed lunch or a date night out. Vegetarian options: Many vegetarian options. The veg platter is R145 and delicious. The primavera pasta is one of my favorites. Wheelchair accessibility: Accessible.

Title: Terrible Service and Management at Atasca, Westville My partner and I visited Atasca in Westville on 29th December 2024, after struggling to find a booking elsewhere. We were looking forward to a relaxing meal, but the experience was disappointing and frustrating. We arrived at 7PM and sat in the smoking area. From the beginning, the manager was arguing with multiple tables around us, showing complete arrogance and hostility. By 7:45 PM, we were suddenly told we had only 15 minutes to order because the restaurant was supposedly closing, despite being there for almost an hour already! The manager lied about his staff giving us plenty of time to order and unfairly blamed them for the chaos. Meanwhile, he continued to argue with nearly every table in the smoking area. His unprofessional behavior not only ruined the atmosphere but also caused Atasca to lose a significant amount of business tonight. We were planning to order a full three-course meal but were essentially forced out, along with other customers, due to the manager’s rude and dismissive attitude. This was, without a doubt, the worst dining experience we’ve had. I cannot recommend Atasca Westville unless they address their poor management and improve their approach to customer service
