I'm a bit of a health nut and prefer to eat a light lunch when out. I selected the Char grilled squid - so good as no batter, no frying. The menu showed as being served with a vegetable compote, but I just wanted a simple garden salad. My waitress happily asked the chef if he would do, and he did. The squid was perfect - lovely and tender. The salad was just right. Topped off with a glass of wine ( okay, I'm not a to... View all feedback.
What Nishita Virk doesn't like about Mandy's On The Mountain:
The carpet inside looks like a bowls club, the food was quite basic and the portions were small. It wasn’t worth the price at all. The staff were friendly and attentive. View all feedback.
We stayed at Clearview in January and on our second night ate at Mandy's. The menu was exactly the same as the other restaurant there which was disappointing. My husband's meal was nice without reaching any great heights(barramundi) however mine was inedible. I ordered the reef and beef which came to the table looking really good but even with heavy pressure on a steak knife could not be cut! The steak was tough, sinewy and had not been rested, so bled all over my plate. Thankfully we got a discount due to this. We both felt that the staff whilst friendly were all trying a bit too hard and therefore interrupting too much. A special note about the garlic and cheese bread we had the previous nite- IT WAS HUMUNGOUS! Absolutely ridiculous- the equivalent of a whole Vienna loaf loaded with mozzarella cheese supposedly for 2! We could hav shared it easily among 8.
Our kids bought us a night away at the Clear Mountain Resort and Spa and a couple of massages at Stephanies.Mandy's has a good reputation and we were quite looking forward to it. Then it kind of all fell apart a bit. When the kids first gave us the package in October (for a night away in January), I emailed Stephanies and received good communication about the spa facilities and arranged the massages with ease, all by email.I also emailed asking to book dinner at Mandy's. I received no reply to that email, so I sent another email to the Lodge a few weeks later in November. I did get a reply to that one, but was advised that I would have to telephone to make a booking at Mandy's - no email reservations. Okay - so I rang - but the restaurant was closed when I rang, so I left a message with reception and hopefully that would do the trick. Less than a week before we were due to arrive, we received an email confirming our overnight accommodation, giving check in times, etc, etc, and advising that Mandy's was closed over December/January. Why didn't they tell me that when I first contacted them? What had happened to my booking? So I rang again to check that we would have somewhere to eat on our anniversary night. We did - Mandy's kitchen was closed, but the Mandy's dining room would be open and the menu was from the resort restaurant. So that was all fine, but a little better communication would have been handy. The dining room is very picturesque, with view out over Brisbane. The control tower at BAP is a good landmark to orientate yourself. The girls at Stephanies advised us to make sure we got a window seat - and that they go early. So we called back at the restaurant to make sure we could get one - and that was fine too. So a tip - when you book, ask for a window seat if you can (though they told me it's usually first in, best dressed, so you may not be able to book it).We also had a little issue with the menu from the grill. It menu stated that all meals from the grill came with steamed greens and a choice of fries. When our meals arrived - no steamed greens (we did get our choice of chips, though they'd run out of sweet potato fries). We asked the waitress, and she said that the chicken was served on grilled eggplant (and it did) and the barramundi (which was nice) was served on a small salad (and it did), and that was our greens. We could order a side of steamed greens if we wanted but the meals didn't come with steamed greens. We didn't push it further, but on looking at the menu back at the room, it said so clearly. Again, a little better communication perhaps. The wine was nice; the meal prices about average (plus $32 for a dozen natural oysters - it was out anniversary afterall!!), and ambiance exquisite. The two young waitresses were very nice and friendly.
Lovely views and polite staff. A noisy party was inside so we decided to eat out on the deck where we enjoyed the views over the lake.A number of diners were questioning where there meals where suggesting that the kitchen was busy so we ordered quickly. antipasto platter to share was good but needed a small bowl of olive oil or a dip to go with the crusty bread. Mains arrived not long after. Pork belly looked and tasted good. The chicken from the grill was ok but nothing to write home about. A few tables around us complained about there meals ; cheesecake tasteless and that the seafood in the paella was a bit chewy. While it was less than I expected for the money we payed - I couldn't complain.
We went to celebrate a birthday. The views from the restaurant are absolutely amazing. The main meals were average however the cheese and garlic bread was great! Would go again and try other things on the menu as the views are stunning!
We were given a dining voucher for Mandys on the mountain so decided to stay the weekend. As the voucher was $150, we decided to order the shared platter at $90. The steak came out rare, no option to change and was tough and not enjoyable. It was quite substantial so we wouldn't have been hungry if we could have eaten it all. In short, the dinner we had at the main restaurant the following night was more enjoyable.
