Good food. Nice atmosphere and beautiful landscape. I had chicken fried steak. You can taste the pepper but not too much. Crackers could be thrown out and replaced with fresh. Lol Checks and Cash only presently in lieu of card machine being down. July 31, 2021 View all feedback.
What Wanda Shaver doesn't like about Clayton Country Inn:
I reserved a room for Christmas night for my son and his wife. They got to the room and there was no electricity, no heat and no hot water. They drove from little Rock Arkansas and were really to tired to drive back home. They eventually found someone to help with the electricity.Rooms: 1/5 View all feedback.
Avoid this place at all costs! The cabin was like a cave, and the smell was unbearable. It was extremely hot inside, and we found mice droppings on the beds. Even the Grinch would think twice about staying here. It was so unsatisfactory that my friend and I decided to leave and get sleeping bags to sleep on the ground at Clayton State Park instead.
I booked a room for Christmas night for my son and his wife. Upon their arrival, they discovered that there was no electricity, no heat, and no hot water in the room. They had driven from Little Rock, Arkansas, and were too exhausted to make the long trip back home. Eventually, they managed to find someone to assist with restoring the electricity. Overall, I would rate the experience 1 out of 5.
Our recent stay at this hotel was incredibly disappointing, and I cannot recommend it to anyone. We've been here twice in previous years, but with new ownership and management, the experience was drastically different. I made a reservation for two nights two months ahead of time, but it took me three attempts to reach someone by phone as they are not always responsive. Eventually, I spoke with Brenda, who took my reservation without asking for a credit card or confirming my contact information. She instructed me to check back closer to our arrival date, which felt unusual. To be safe, I mailed a confirmation card with all my details about three weeks before our stay. On the 29th, just two days before our arrival, I called again and managed to reach Brenda once more. I reiterated our bed preferences, and she assured me she would accommodate us. However, when we arrived on Friday, October 1st, at 5:15 PM, neither Brenda nor the other staff member could locate our reservation. I referenced my notes from previous communications, but it was clear our room had not been reserved. Brenda then offered us Room #6, which had a full bed and a twin bed, while mentioning that the TV might not work properly. The state of the property was disheartening. The yard was unkempt, and we had to trek through overgrown weeds to reach our room. After we settled in, things only deteriorated further. The room had a stale odor, and there was a disgusting, sour spill on top of the mini-fridge. Only one lamp functioned, and the smoke detector was non-operational, lying neglected on the dresser. The overall cleanliness was appalling, with crumbs and trash scattered around, a filthy bathroom floor, and stained carpet that seemed to harbor old grass and debris. The bathroom was particularly unwelcoming, with rust-colored water spewing from the old pipes and insufficient toilet paper. There were no toiletries provided, not even soap, and no cups to drink from. Upon checking under the sink, I discovered mold covering the interior cabinet, including the ice bucket, which held stagnant, mold-infested water. By this point, we were extremely frustrated but had little choice given the lack of alternative accommodations due to a local festival. We decided to inspect the beds for pests as a last resort. Thankfully, there were no signs of bugs, mice, or roaches; however, we were horrified to find plastic trash in the twin bed and a broken adult toy in the full bed. It was evident the sheets had not been changed between guests, as indicated by the stains on the bed skirt. At this point, we were exhausted and desperate. We made a trip to the Dollar General nearby, spending over $40 on cleaning supplies and other essentials to make our stay somewhat bearable. Overall, our experience was thoroughly disappointing, and I strongly advise against staying here.
Great spot to unwind after a long day of hog hunting. The food is quite good too. I would definitely stay here again.
Absolutely fantastic! It’s definitely worth the trip every month. The food is outstanding, and the staff are wonderful.
