A beloved old-time soda shop and diner inside the Cumberland Mountain Country General Store, this one-of-a-kind spot is known for towering milkshakes, colossal banana splits and classic diner fare amid vintage metal signs and farmhouse antiques. Lively, nostalgic atmosphere and friendly, hardworking staff draw steady crowds and occasional long waits. Outdoor screened patio needs repair and can invite insects, while indoor seating is more comfortable. Service can be uneven and there was at least one concern about a dog in the dining room. Closing March 31, 2023 — visit soon.

It was very busy when we went. Staff was very friendly and worked hard. Initially we sat outdoors on the screened patio but the screen was broken and missing in some sections and it did not take long for us all to be covered in insect bites. After moving inside things were more comfortable.

Friday night fish was OK but service was the worst. Wait staff does not understand how to service. Had to ask for table to be cleaned, no refills on drinks offered and had to wait over an hour for food to be served.

It is an old time soda shoppe. They have a lunch menu and ice cream. I got a chocolate shake that was delicious!!!We watched them make an Elvis Mudslides. They looked so good. I could not believe how much Mayfield ice cream they put in the glass!!!!!

We finally visited during their open hours and grabbed lunch. The burgers were great, and they even have a topping bar where you can customize your burger with as much as you'd like. The onion rings were delicious, and the fries were good too. Although we didn’t get any ice cream this time, we saw them preparing an enormous banana split and a hot fudge brownie that looked amazing. Next time, I’ll definitely save room for dessert. I will be returning here. The old store has a lot of nice items as well, and we always enjoy browsing when we’re in the area.
