Perfectly placed by the lake, this terrace will offer you one of the best views you can get in Montreux. Correct prices, good food and service. Impressive wine list with numerous choices from the region and international. Will be back for sure! View all feedback.
What publiussulla doesn't like about Hotel Restaurant Au fil de l'eau:
We stayed in the hotel here and apart from the grand view and the helpful staff that is where the good part ends. The cocktails were pricey (19.50 Francs per) and that was just a basic Kir Royal which is some creme de cassis and a splash of champagne. We had 2 patio side and just went with it when realized the sticker shock. Alas the bread sticks and cocktails were the best part of the meal. The guinea fowl was bland... View all feedback.
What can I say it is terrible . With pre set menue we have waited 2 HOURS!!! The meals are tasty but service and approach is far far from normal expectations.
Pretty tasty food but terrible long service. We booked in advance and preordered food , bot waited for more than two hours to get food ready. As a result no pleasure of visiting.

The cocktails were pricey (19.50 Francs per) and that was just a basic Kir Royal which is some creme de cassis and a splash of champagne. We had 2 patio side and just went with it when realized the sticker shock. Alas the bread sticks and cocktails were the best part of the meal. The guinea fowl was bland and nearly flavorless the soup was the same and was so unremarkable I cannot even recall what it was called. We both had the same dish so were both very disappointed in what we got for 200 francs with tip. The service was friendly but the food was a great let down. We should have walked over to the pizza place down the street we could have saved a 100 francs.
One of the main reasons for staying at the hotel was to experience the restaurant. It was unfortunate the weather was not good enough for us to sit outside. The gardens overlooking the lake are amazing and I am sure would really add to positively to the experience. We arrived down from our room and went into the dining hall searching for someone to show us to our table. It was all very awkward and no one around. It appeared very under staffed. The indoor dining area was sterile and lacked any atmosphere. We had a set menu which was all that was on offer which in current times is understandable. We appreciated the current circumstances and looked forward to our first meal out for a long time. The starters were reasonable but the main fish course although visually well presented, was very bland and watery, as if the fish had been defrosted. The waitress asked us about our meal which we had not eaten when clearing the plates and we explained politely that it wasn't the best. She disappeared with the plates and returned with not a very positive or empathetic attitude. She made us feel very uncomfortable with her comments which were to be heard by others in the restaurant. I did not feel it was correct to point out her lack of empathy or customer service skills as did not wish to inflame the situation feeling better to take it off line with management at a later time. We remained calm and polite. Breakfast the next morning was very attentive and the team member was very polite and helpful. The breakfast was very good in general. I have contacted the Directrice on due course, but whilst her emails are very polite, there seems very little energy to improve on the circumstance. Based on this, I would definitely not return or would recommend to my friends.
Most enjoyable meal in fabulous setting, overlooking Lac Leman. Great service, friendly, good gluten free choices and bread. Lovely.
